Offshore Bookkeeper
Join a growing, multi-entity professional services group that is bringing finance activity across its businesses into a more centralised structure. As Bookkeeper, you’ll support the day-to-day bookkeeping across several businesses, working closely with a Sydney-based Senior Financial Accountant to keep transactions, reconciliations and month-end work accurate and up to date.
What you’ll be doing
- Complete daily and weekly bank reconciliations and help maintain daily cash-flow updates
- Process and code supplier invoices, contractor invoices, timesheets and other finance transactions
- Manage finance inboxes and keep transaction records accurate and up to date
- Prepare month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and other recurring journals
- Prepare balance-sheet reconciliations across bank accounts, AR, AP, payroll and other key accounts
- Maintain supporting schedules and the fixed asset register for month-end reporting
- Prepare GST and BAS reconciliations and workpapers for review
- Reconciliations and transaction coding
- Support the Senior Financial Accountant with month-end, audit and other finance requirements
- Help improve bookkeeping routines and processes as finance becomes more centralised across the group
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for an experienced Bookkeeper who has supported Australian businesses and is comfortable working across day-to-day bookkeeping and month-end activities.
You’ll need strong attention to detail and good organisation skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and keep accurate records across several businesses. You’ll work closely with the Senior Financial Accountant, so clear communication and the confidence to raise any identified issues are important. Be valued for your skills as well as your judgement.
You’ll bring:
- At least three years of bookkeeping experience, including two years supporting Australian businesses
- Strong hands-on experience with Xero and/or MYOB
- Experience with bank reconciliations, transaction coding and day-to-day bookkeeping
- Practical experience preparing month-end journals and balance-sheet reconciliations
- Working knowledge of Australian GST and BAS requirements
- Experience supporting multiple businesses, entities or Australian clients
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and a well-organised approach to your work
- Clear written and verbal English communication skills
- The ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage deadlines
Experience supporting professional or technology services, recruitment, labour hire or another contractor or timesheet-based business would be useful. Exposure to systems such as Projectworks, Volopay, Weel or Employment Hero would also be helpful.
What’s on offer?
- A broader bookkeeping role covering several businesses within an Australian group
- The opportunity to work closely with and learn from a Sydney-based Senior Financial Accountant
- Scope to take ownership of your work and suggest improvements to bookkeeping routines
- A full-time remote role based in the Philippines, with working hours aligned to Sydney
- Local payroll and employee support through an established Philippine employment partner
