Description
enshift develops, finances and operates energy assets for buildings in Switzerland: photovoltaic plants, battery storage and heat pumps. Once an asset is built, our Asset Management team makes sure it performs as it should, every day, for years. That's where you come in.
You'll be part of the Asset Management team and work on the live fleet from day one. This isn't a shadowing internship. You'll own real problems, make decisions and see their effect on production and on our customers.
## Tasks
- **Check that our PV plants produce what they should:** Compare actual production against the simulation models, spot underperforming plants, inverters or strings, and work out why.
- **Decide how to fix problems:** Once an issue is confirmed, you decide the next step: solve it remotely, send an installer or service team to site, or go yourself. You'll prepare the diagnosis so whoever goes on site knows what to look for.
- **Monitor our heat pumps:** Track COP and energy data, flag units that drift, and help figure out whether the cause is technical, a configuration problem or a data problem.
- **Keep an eye on the monitoring platforms:** Make sure every installation is correctly connected and that data is complete and believable. Sometimes the "problem" is the meter, not the plant, and you'll learn to tell the difference.
- **Improve our alerting:** Watch the alerts we have and propose new or better ones, so that we catch real issues early without drowning in noise.
- We use AI tools, mainly Claude, on a daily basis to analyse data, write reports and automate routine checks. You will be expected to use these tools confidently and responsibly. This means knowing how to ask the right questions, critically reviewing the output and checking the information before relying on it. Installers, suppliers and monitoring portals may sometimes provide information that is incomplete, outdated or incorrect. We are looking for someone who verifies before taking action, whether the information comes from an installer, a portal or an AI tool.
## Requirements
- Currently studying or recently graduated in engineering, energy or a related field, such as electrical or mechanical engineering
- **French and/or German**, fluent enough to work with installers and site contacts. English is our working language for documentation.
- Comfortable with spreadsheets and data.
- **Curiosity and a real drive to learn.** This matters more than anything else on this list. If you want to understand how a PV plant, a battery or a heat pump actually works, and why it doesn't, you'll fit in.
- **A solution-oriented mindset.** You don't stop at "there's a problem". You propose what to do about it.
- **Critical thinking**, about data, about what external parties tell you, and about what AI tells you.
## Benefits
- **Development opportunities:** We are looking for someone who wants to grow with enshift. The internship is planned for 6 to 12 months, with the possibility of moving into a permanent role afterwards.
- Further training in renewable energies and project management
- A dynamic and innovative environment with short decision-making processes and plenty of creative freedom
- The opportunity to actively contribute to the energy transition and make a real impact
