Nexus Family Healing is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to join our wonderful team! This position would help support a couple of our Foster, Adopt and Community services in Minnesota.

Schedule/Location/Pay:
- Full-time, hybrid opportunity with frequent travel to Rochester and Mendota Heights/the Twin Cities
- Pay Range: $30-35 per hour
- Flexible scheduling based on program needs - mixture of days, evenings, weekends
Position Summary: This position provides flexible coverage across residential treatment and crisis programs, with responsibilities that may include:
- Milieu Supervisor
- Milieu Lead
- DSP
- YSP/YCP
- Crisis Responder
The ideal candidate can flex between direct care, lead, and supervisory-level responsibilities based on program needs. Assignments, schedules, and work locations may vary, so strong adaptability and flexibility are essential.
Primary responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision, support, and mentorship to youth in residential, crisis, and behavioral health settings.
- Facilitate daily activities, appointments, transportation, family engagement, and independent living skill development.
- Implement treatment plans, behavioral interventions, and safety plans using trauma-informed, strengths-based practices.
- Assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation, medication administration, documentation, and maintaining a therapeutic environment.
- Promote client safety, emotional well-being, personal growth, and successful treatment outcomes.
- Support daily program operations, including client care coordination, staff support, and program activities.
- Coach and mentor direct care staff while supporting training, onboarding, scheduling, and compliance requirements.
- Respond to behavioral health crises, assist with assessments and care planning, and connect clients and families to appropriate resources.
- Collaborate with families, providers, and community partners to support positive outcomes and continuity of care.
- Maintain compliance with organizational, licensing, accreditation, and safety standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support program and client needs.
Requirements
Required Education and Licensure:
- Meets Minnesota Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) qualifications via:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, Behavioral Sciences, or related field OR
- Minimum two (2) years of experience providing direct behavioral health, residential treatment, crisis response, youth services, or related human services support OR
- Qualifying combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients experiencing behavioral, emotional, mental health, trauma-related, and crisis-related needs.
- Experience providing direct care services in residential, crisis, behavioral health, or human services settings.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency driving requirements. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly between assigned service locations.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, Behavioral Sciences, or related field.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in residential treatment, crisis services, behavioral health, or related human services settings.
- Previous lead, supervisory, or program coordination experience preferred.
- Experience working with clients experiencing behavioral health, trauma-related, emotional, and crisis-related needs preferred.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to assist staff in proper restraining of youths.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100+ pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours).
- Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within the residential program
