Description

The eligible list will ONLY be used to fill vacancies within the Sheriff’s Department, Probation Department, and Office of the District Attorney. There is an immediate vacancy in Morongo Basin. San Bernardino County is currently accepting applications for Law and Justice Office Specialists who perform complex clerical and/or fiscal duties within the Sheriff’s Department, Probation Department, Office of the District Attorney, Office of the Public Defender, or County Counsel.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Providing general information to the public via phone or in-person;
- Collecting, entering, and processing information;
- Preparing and maintaining files, forms, documents, and records systems;
- Utilizing and entering information into a variety of specialized computer systems such as CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Systems), CLETS (California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System), JIMS (Jail Information Management System), CNI (Central Names Index);
- Verifying, auditing, classifying, processing, tracking, posting and reconciling payroll, accounts payable, travel claims, billings and payments, reimbursements, accounts receivable, public assistance grants and trust accounts.

For more detailed information, refer to the Law and Justice Office Specialist job description.Shift: Some positions require availability to work all shifts; incumbents may be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, and may be required to assist after normal duty hours in emergency situations. Shift differentials and overtime compensation are available. Indicate shift availability on the supplemental questionnaire.
| Must meet ONE of the following options: |
| Option 1: | One (1) year of full-time clerical experience in an office environment. Duties must include a variety of office tasks including public contact, providing customers with information regarding policies and procedures, daily computer use, word processing, fiscal tasks, mathematical computations, and answering phones. |
| Option 2: | A conferred Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, mathematics, business/public administration, English, criminal justice, or closely related field obtained from an accredited college/university. |
Qualifying experience is typically equivalent to the San Bernardino County Senior Office Assistant classification and above.
Note: Retail sales and food service experience is not qualifying.
