General Summary of PositionMedStar Health Urgent Care is committed to providing world-class compassionate care to every patient every time at every touch point during the experience. All associates are accountable for their role in meeting patient experience standards. Provides medical care and medical follow-up to MedStar Health Urgent Care's patients. Responsible for clinical care delivered to a wide variety of patients (Pediatric to Geriatric) as well as diverse diagnoses. Care is delivered in compliance with state and federal regulations MedStar Health Urgent Care policies & procedures and established clinical and service best practices.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Acknowledges the impact of the physician has on patient loyalty return patients and referrals; strives to assure a favorable patient and/or customer experience; takes personal responsibility for the growth and success of the practice.
  • Acknowledges the key role the physician plays in an efficient and professional environment for patient care and strives to orchestrate and support the team of caregivers and support personnel in a manner that is productive patient focused and supportive of the multiple administrative responsibilities needed to assure a successful practice.
  • Adheres to and assures implementation of the MedStar Health Urgent Care Code of Conduct and its Compliance Plan including but not limited to Billing and Coding procedures HIPAA and the protection of PHI.
  • Consistently strives to assure an environment focused on clinical quality patient and employee safety. Participates in Quality Safety Infection Control Committees and/or initiatives as required.
  • Creates an environment free of discrimination and built upon respect for fellow staff members peers supervisors and MedStar Health Urgent Care's patients families vendors and other customers.
  • Is present with the patient through eye contact listening skills thoughtful communication and compassion.
  • Participates in initiatives and activities that support seamless services and follow-up across the MedStar continuum of care.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
  • Participates in training and orientation initiatives related to clinic staff; may serve as the final judge of competency for clinical personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Recognizes the employer as an additional customer in occupational medicine cases and supports light duty and other cost saving initiatives as requested when clinically reasonable and safe for the patient.; serves as the key clinical liaison to employers when they have questions regarding job related injuries.
  • Seeks opportunities for improvement in patient care service and results of the practice. Works in collaboration with the Area Operations Manager and Medical Leadership to build a successful and patient centric medical practice.
  • Supports and serves as a leader in a culture of accountability whether it is about each person's responsibility for an immaculate and uncluttered physical plant to each individual's responsibility toward patient communication optimum patient flow and compassionate care of patients and service to their families.
  • Supports the development and implementation of emerging technology initiatives such as telemedicine.
  • Supports the use of technology in the clinic setting to improve patient care safety efficiency and communication. Takes personal responsibility for competence related to the Electronic Health Record (Centricity) as well as the MedStar Health Information Enterprise.
  • Supports triage directives and responds with urgency when notified of potential emergency situations (e.g. loss of consciousness chest pain severe abdominal pain).
  • Takes personal responsibility for completing mandatory and developmental education.

Minimal QualificationsEducation

  • Graduate of an accredited allopathic or osteopathic school of medicine. required or
  • Doctoral degree as a Medical Doctor required or
  • Doctoral degree Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine licensed to practice in the appropriate state or district. required and
  • Board certified or Board eligible in one of the following areas unless approved by the Area Medical Director and/or MedStar CEO: Family Medicine Internal Medicine Emergency Medicine Occupational Medicine or Urgent Care. required

Experience

  • 1-2 years 2 years of primary care urgent care or emergency medicine experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • MD - Physician - State Licensure Licensed to practice medicine in the appropriate state or District. required and
  • Board certified or Board eligible in one of the following areas unless approved by the Area Medical Director and/or MedStar CEO: Family Medicine Internal Medicine Emergency Medicine Occupational Medicine or Urgent Care. required and
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required and
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • General medical skills commensurate with the scope of care in an urgent care setting.
  • Excellent oral/ written skills.
  • Computer skills particularly as they relate to the use of an electronic medical record.
  • A strong customer service orientation and ability to flourish in a patient-centric model.
  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task.
  • The physician: patient relationship is the most critical determinant of overall patient satisfaction so the physician plays a key role in development of a loyal patient base through solid clinical and interpersonal skills.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $20.00 - USD $20.00 /Yr.
