Supplier Quality Engineer II/III

Woodward’s Industrial Product Division in Fort Collins, Colorado is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer II or III who is responsible for evaluating supplier performance, identifying and resolving quality issues, and driving continuous improvement across the supply base. This role partners with procurement, engineering, and production teams to ensure suppliers meet quality, compliance, and business requirements. The position also supports quality documentation, reporting, supplier audits, and corrective action activities to improve product and process quality.

Level 2: Estimated annual base pay: $75,000-$102,000

Level 3: Estimated annual base pay: $89,000-$121,000

Level 2:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular assessments of supplier quality metrics to ensure adherence to established standards and contractual requirements.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Identify and analyze complex quality issues, determining root causes and developing effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Continuous Improvement Leadership: Lead small scale improvement projects focused on enhancing supplier processes and product quality through the implementation of best practices.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, engineering, and production teams to align supplier quality objectives with overall business goals.
  • Quality Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive quality reports and documentation to track supplier performance and support informed decision making.

  • Root Cause Analysis: Skilled in identifying and analyzing root causes of quality issues to develop effective corrective actions.

  • Supplier Assessment: Experienced in evaluating and auditing suppliers to ensure adherence to quality and performance standards.

  • Process Improvement: Adept at identifying and implementing process enhancements to increase efficiency and product quality.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent in conveying complex quality information clearly and building consensus among cross functional teams.
  • Problem Solving: Strong ability to develop innovative solutions to complex quality challenges based on comprehensive data analysis.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledgeable in industry regulations and standards to ensure supplier and product compliance.
  • Leadership: Able to guide and mentor less experienced colleagues and lead small scale projects with minimal oversight

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Have the Following Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required; technical degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing, machining, or quality engineering.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
  • Experience with RCCA, 8D, A3, PPAP, and supplier audits.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Level 3:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Performance Monitoring: Monitors and analyzes supplier quality metrics, providing actionable insights and recommendations for enhancement.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Have the Following Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing, or quality engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements, and GD&T.
  • Expertise in RCCA, 8D, A3, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, DoE, and supplier audits.
  • Proven ability to lead supplier development, continuous improvement, and cross-functional projects.
  • LSS Black Belt, and Auditor certification preferred.
