JB071 - Full-Time Live-Out Housekeeper - New York, NY 

Overview

A distinguished private family in New York is seeking an exceptional and highly polished Housekeeper to uphold the highest standards of care, presentation, and service within a private residence. The ideal candidate brings proven experience in luxury private households, an impeccable eye for detail, and a naturally discreet, proactive, and service oriented approach. Experience caring for fine furnishings, wardrobes, valuable household items, and high end residences is highly valued.

 

The family recently relocated to New York and currently has a small household team, so the right candidate should come in with a flexible, family first mindset rather than expecting a fully established staff structure. A flexible approach to working hours is essential, with the ability to adapt seamlessly to the family's needs and schedule, including weekends and holidays as required. This is a full time role, 5 days per week, approximately 50 to 60 hours weekly.

 

The highest standards of discretion, confidentiality, professionalism, and personal presentation are expected.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping and Cleaning

• Perform daily cleaning and upkeep of the residence, including bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas, kitchen, and offices
• Dust, vacuum, mop, polish, and disinfect surfaces using appropriate specialized products
• Clean delicate surfaces, antiques, artwork, fine furnishings, marble, and specialty materials using professional care procedures
• Maintain bathrooms and kitchens to hotel level standards, ensuring appliances and cabinets are immaculate
• Identify and promptly report maintenance, repair, or damage requirements to the Manager

Laundry and Wardrobe Care

• Handle household laundry, including washing, drying, ironing, and steaming luxury garments and linens
• Follow specific care instructions for delicate fabrics, specialty items, and couture clothing
• Coordinate with external dry cleaners or specialty services when required
• Ensure all clothing and household linens are returned, organized, and stored appropriately

Household Organization

• Maintain an organized and visually immaculate household, including closets, drawers, and storage areas
• Monitor household supplies and communicate replenishment requirements for cleaning consumables and toiletries
• Prepare guest rooms to five star standards before and after visits
• Assist with residence preparations for family events, dinners, and VIP guest arrivals

Guest and Family Service

• Provide discreet and professional service to family members and guests, maintaining awareness of personal preferences
• Assist with serving meals or refreshments when requested by the principals or household management
• Respond promptly and courteously to all requests while respecting privacy and personal boundaries

Team and Operations

• Work collaboratively with other household staff, including chefs and household management, as the team continues to grow
• Follow established household procedures, schedules, and instructions
• Support other household functions within the scope of the role to ensure seamless operations

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional housekeeping experience in a private residence or luxury hotel environment
• Previous experience working for a UHNW/HNW family or within a multi staff estate is required
• Demonstrated knowledge of professional cleaning, laundry, and ironing techniques for luxury materials, and experience caring for fine artwork, antiques, and specialty surfaces
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently
• Professional demeanor and an unwavering commitment to confidentiality
• Formal hospitality training or knowledge of VIP service standards is a strong asset
• English proficiency, both spoken and written, is required
• Comfortable working within a small, still growing household team
• Adaptable, low ego, and understanding of the household's early stage team structure

Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• High degree of flexibility to support the family's dynamic lifestyle, including evening, weekend, holiday, and extended hours coverage as needed

Salary and Benefits

• $40 to $45 per hour
