Building Maintenance Associate (BMA) – JLL
What this job involves: JLL is seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Associate (BMA) to support facility operations for the GE Vernova Hitachi account in Wilmington. This position is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient building operations. The role supports occupant comfort, operational continuity, and client satisfaction through hands-on maintenance, system monitoring, and responsive service delivery. The BMA will work closely with the facility management team to maintain high operational standards while delivering professional client service in a commercial/industrial environment.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical building systems.
- Conduct routine inspections of building infrastructure and equipment to identify and resolve maintenance concerns.
- Respond to work orders, service requests, and building emergencies in a timely and professional manner.
- Monitor building automation systems and respond to alarms or system notifications as needed.
- Complete minor repairs to lighting, doors, locks, fixtures, and general building components.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and update activities within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Support facility projects, space moves, safety initiatives, and overall site operations while maintaining clean and organized work areas.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools used in maintenance activities.
- Basic computer proficiency including email, CMMS platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying physical environments including ladders, rooftops, and mechanical spaces.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical training or trade certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems.
- Experience working in commercial, industrial, or corporate office environments.
- Familiarity with building automation systems and preventive maintenance programs.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment schematics.
- Experience supporting safety programs including lockout/tagout procedures and PPE compliance.
- Customer service experience in a client-facing facilities environment.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if required by site operations.
Location: Wilmington
Work Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday
