Description
This is a half-time position in the Finance department, with mostly morning hours. Hourly rate is $22.85/hour. Benefits include IPERS, paid vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay.
Duties include:
- Receiving payments for City licenses, rents, fines, services, etc. by person and by mail. Issuing receipts, balancing daily cash receipts, preparing deposit slips, and maintaining various records of funds collected.
- Sorting and distributing mail to City departments.
- Answering the telephone and transferring calls to appropriate City personnel.
- Receiving inquiries for information from the public and City employees by telephone and in person; providing routine information in response to these requests.
- Performs other clerical duties in the department as needed.
Qualifications include:
Completion of high school
At least one year experience or course work in general clerical or secretarial field
Experience in dealing with the public
Considerable knowledge of secretarial practices and procedures.
Skill in working with confidential information
Ability to operate a personal computer including word, excel, and various software programs
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to make simple computations and tabulations with speed and accuracy
Must reside within 30 air miles of Muscatine city limits
Must pass post offer physical and drug screen
