Senior HR Specialist
Human Resources
Brighton, Michigan
Biovire is advancing toward commercialization with a focus on innovation, operational excellence, and scalable GMP manufacturing. We are seeking a Senior HR Specialist to strengthen day-to-day HR operations and provide responsive, high-quality support to employees and managers across the organization.
This is a hands-on Human Resources role with broad exposure across employee support, benefits and leave administration, talent acquisition and onboarding, HR systems and records, employee lifecycle processes, and recurring HR programs. The role offers an opportunity to take meaningful ownership while helping build HR practices and capabilities that will scale with Biovire.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of HR, the Senior HR Specialist will serve as an accessible HR point of contact for employees and managers while providing reliable execution and follow-through across day-to-day HR operations.
The role will independently manage assigned priorities from intake through completion, partner across functions and with external vendors, maintain visibility to deadlines and open actions, and appropriately escalate matters requiring senior HR guidance. Success in this position requires strong organization, responsiveness, judgment, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to employee service.
As Biovire grows, the scope of the role may expand based on demonstrated capability and organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a first point of contact for employees and managers, providing timely guidance, follow-up, and resolution of day-to-day HR needs.
- Maintain regular availability to employees across functions and shifts and help ensure employee requests and open HR matters receive timely follow-through and closure.
- Provide initial guidance on employee relations, attendance, performance, conduct, policy, and workplace matters, appropriately escalating complex or higher-risk issues.
- Coordinate day-to-day HR operations, including employee changes, ADP/HRIS administration, employment records, required documentation, policy acknowledgements, and recurring HR processes.
- Maintain accurate employee files, job descriptions, HR documentation, trackers, reports, calendars, and recurring workflows.
- Provide first-line support for employee benefits questions and coordinate with Payroll, brokers, vendors, carriers, and other partners through resolution.
- Coordinate leave and accommodation processes, including employee communications, documentation, vendor coordination, status tracking, return-to-work activities, and appropriate escalation.
- Support annual benefits enrollment, employee education, and benefits communications.
- Coordinate employee lifecycle activities including onboarding, employee changes, transfers, promotions, and offboarding.
- Coordinate recruiting for assigned positions, including job postings, candidate review, interview scheduling, candidate communications, offers, and pre-employment activities.
- Partner with hiring managers to maintain recruiting momentum and provide visibility to candidate pipelines, open positions, and position aging.
- Coordinate new-hire onboarding and orientation and ensure required employment documentation and readiness activities are completed.
- Support implementation and follow-through of workforce planning actions, organizational changes, approved staffing plans, and job-description documentation.
- Coordinate administration of performance reviews, goal setting, development planning, recognition, and other recurring HR programs.
- Support Employee Handbook and policy implementation, employee communications, Company meetings, engagement activities, training documentation, and HR compliance activities.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve HR processes and the Employee Experience.
- Provide HR operational coverage and continuity in partnership with the Senior Director, Human Resources.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- 3–5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including broad HR generalist, HR operations, or HR business partner responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience supporting employee relations, benefits, compensation, leave administration, talent acquisition, onboarding, HR systems, employment records, training, and recurring HR programs.
- Experience independently managing HR processes and employee requests from intake through resolution.
- Working knowledge of federal and Michigan employment laws and HR compliance practices.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, written communication, interpersonal, and follow-through skills.
- Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when matters require escalation.
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
- Experience with HRIS and/or ATS platforms; ADP experience preferred.
Preferred qualifications include:
