The Student Engagement Coordinator manages the creation and implementation of monthly competency-based small- and large-scale programs and student activities. Additionally, the position supports the development of high-level initiatives within the Office of the Assistant Provost, as well as Orientation: Foundations, Welcome Week, University Student Government/Council, Black Maternal Health Week, and Stress-Free Week. Secondary functions of the role include supporting the management of office logistics, finances, and communication with other departments, vendors, and students; developing relevant physical, digital, and social promotional and marketing materials for the Office of Student Life and Engagement; and assisting in the recruitment, hiring, and supervision of student employees.Job Description
Essential Functions
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Lead the creation, planning, implementation, and assessment of engagement and community belonging centered activities and events, for graduate and professional students, for Center City and Dixon campus
- Support the development and execution of student programming that includes, but is not limited to, University Student Government/Council, skill development, orientation, co-curricular initiatives, major campus events, and collaborations with other academic and administrative offices, including the Jefferson Dixon Campus
- Establish new and intentional competency-based programs and experiences that meet students’ needs and cultivates a culture of belonging and holistic development. Provide late-night and weekend experiences when necessary
- Create program promotions for the campus community, including administrative management of digital and social media tools for the office
- Manage office purchase processes, including payment requests through reconciliation cycle, communication with vendors, expense tracking, and records
- Manage hospitality and logistics components related to student programming, including but not limited to, catering, room reservations and setups, A/V, security, event registrations, event contracts, purchasing supplies, volunteer recruitment, and event preparations
- Manage the processing of event management logistics for OSLE
- Collaborate with Student Affairs stakeholders to develop and achieve goals and measurable outcomes for the promotion of student health and well-being
- Develop, promote, and distribute a comprehensive monthly schedule of Student Affairs events, initiatives, and activities:
- Share these events electronically with pertinent campus partners
- Assist with tracking event attendance and student evaluation of events
- Evaluate programmatic alignment with established frameworks for budgets, risk and student outcomes
- Support the creation and development of student engagement reports and data
- Co-lead the management of general office resources and vendors:
- Maintain event vendor and program equipment list and inventory
- Serve as the primary liaison to the preventive maintenance vendor, including office equipment repairs
- Support healthy communication and relationship building with current and future event vendors
- Maintain a file of vendor relationships, equipment warranties, and histories
- Manage digital files and inventory, inclusive of programmatic data, student data, physical materials and resources utilized by offices supported by the Assistant Provost and Student Affairs.
- Support the Assistant Provost with special projects as requested, including participation and support of Student Affairs/OSLE committee scheduling, management, and others as needed
- Maintain rotational presence in the Office of the Assistant Provost
- Serve as a point of contact for Student Affairs and the Office of Student Life and Engagement, by addressing phone and email inquiries, and establishing priority for addressing the needs of students and other constituents

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Photoshop or program for multimedia editorial purposes, understanding of social medial communication
- A demonstrated knowledge of competency-based program/initiative development, management and assessment
- Familiarity and experience with student engagement platforms and technology
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in education, psychology/counseling, leadership, health sciences, business or a related field preferred
AND
Experience:
Required: 1-3 years in Higher education
- Event planning and management;
- Knowledge of models for the development of competency-based programming
- Student support and engagement initiative coordination and assessment;
- Basic budget administration experience
- Social media management
- Data collection and analyzation
Preferred:
- Previous managerial experience;
- Experience supporting graduate and professional students
- Project coordination
