Description
The Plant Electrical and Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of plant control systems and for diagnosing electrical issues impacting plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Controls Engineering
- Maintain, diagnose, and resolve issues related to plant PLC, DCS, and HMI based automation systems.
- Support the integration of instrumentation systems including sensors, transmitters, flow meters, and analyzers.
- Maintain and update electrical and controls documentation including P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control narratives.
- Identify and implement automation and controls improvements to enhance process efficiency, product quality, and safety.
Electrical Engineering
- Troubleshoot electrical issues impacting plant operations and coordinate with maintenance technicians to minimize production downtime.
- Perform electrical load analysis, short circuit studies, and arc flash assessments to ensure system safety and compliance.
- Manage electrical preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E, and other applicable electrical standards.
Training & Support
- Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance technicians and operators on electrical and controls systems.
- Support 24/7 operations by providing on-call technical assistance for critical electrical and controls issues.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field with 3-5 years of experience in electrical and/or controls engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
OR
Education/Experience: High School Diploma with 5-7 years of experience in electrical and/or controls engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in PLC programming
- Experience with DCS platforms
- AutoCAD Electrical or similar design tools
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and effective cross-functional communication.
The base salary for this position is $80,000 to $90,000.
