Description

The Westminster Police Department is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and professional Administrative Support Specialist to provide comprehensive administrative and office support to department management and staff. This position is ideal for someone who can manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively with the public and internal teams, and exercise sound judgment when handling confidential and complex administrative matters.

This position is scheduled for a salary range increase of $5,687 - 8,002 in January 2027
$1,600/

ABOUT THE POSITION
This is an administrative support role focused on assisting management department staff by preparing correspondence, performing data entry and word processing, assisting with budgets, contracts, research projects, and department programs, and providing information and assistance to staff and the public. The role requires strong knowledge of department procedures, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage a variety of complex administrative tasks.

The successful candidate will be a dependable, organized, and customer-service-oriented professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced public-sector environment. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent attention to detail, the ability to prioritize competing deadlines, and the judgment to work independently while supporting management and departmental staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to managers and department staff.
  • Prepare and draft correspondence using independent judgment.
  • Perform word processing, typing, and data entry.
  • Provide information and assistance to the public and staff.
  • Support budgets, contracts, research projects, and department programs.
  • Apply knowledge of department procedures and operations to complete complex administrative tasks.
  • Support personnel administration and maintain confidential employee records.
  • Perform other related administrative duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
Education and Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Police Administrative Assistant I:  Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and one (1) year of responsible administrative support experience.

Police Administrative Assistant II: In addition to the above, some college-level coursework and/or technical training in secretarial science and/or office administrative support and two (2) years of responsible administrative support experience.
