Description
We are looking for a Senior Director, Software Engineering to join our Life Science & Healthcare team in Barcelona. This is an exciting opportunity to lead significant engineering organisations and engineering leaders through two major transformations: modernising how we build software and accelerating the evolution of our products into AI-native solutions.
In this role, you will drive AI-first engineering, Spec Driven Development and modern delivery practices that improve speed, quality and predictability. You will also help shape AI-native products that combine world-class data, intelligence and advanced AI capabilities to help customers make faster, smarter and more confident decisions.
You will partner with business, product and technology leaders to create innovative products, platforms and experiences that empower Life Sciences and Healthcare organisations to accelerate innovation, reduce uncertainty and bring life-changing therapies to patients faster.
About You: experience, education, skills, and accomplishments
10+ years of software engineering experience
5+ years of software engineering leadership
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, technology or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
It would be great if you also have...
Experience in Life Sciences, Healthcare, Research & Development, data, intelligence or enterprise software.
Experience leading AI-first engineering transformation or embedding AI across the software development lifecycle.
Experience with Spec Driven Development or similar modern engineering delivery practices.
Experience building AI-native products, platforms or customer-facing solutions.
Experience working in complex, global, matrixed organisations.
Master’s degree or relevant advanced qualification in technology, engineering, business or a related field.

About the Team
The Life Sciences & Healthcare Research & Development portfolio is focused on delivering products, platforms and experiences that help customers accelerate innovation, reduce uncertainty and bring life-changing therapies to patients faster.
This role will work closely with senior leaders across Engineering, Product, Business and Technology, as well as customer-facing teams and delivery organisations. Your stakeholders will include customers, business partners and delivery teams. A key part of the role will be creating an environment where talented people can do the best work of their careers while delivering outcomes that positively impact healthcare around the world.

Hours of Work
This is a full-time, permanent position, primarily working core business hours in your time zone, with flexibility to work across global time zones as needed.
This is a [HYBRID position working based in our Barcelona office, 2 days per week.
