Managing Director - AI Solution Consulting

Marketing is being reinvented. The brands that move first will reach every customer with relevance at a speed and scale that wasn't possible a year ago. We are looking for the leader who will make that happen for our US clients.

What will your day look like?

As Managing Director, AI Solution Consulting, you will lead our agentic AI business in the US. You will advise C-level clients on where agents create real value, shape ecosystems that combine bespoke agents with the platforms clients already own, prove the incremental ROI, and grow a portfolio of accounts and a team to match.

• Grow & Win: Help grow and win our US portfolio with client engagement and growth teams: spotting opportunities, bringing the AI vision to pursuits, shaping proposals and commercial models beyond time and materials, and leading the AI solution through to signature.
• Strategic Advisory: Be a trusted advisor to CMOs, CDOs and CX leaders, shaping an agentic agenda that serves their strategy rather than a vendor roadmap.
• Value & ROI: Build value cases with clear baselines and attribution, so every agent we sell has a measurable route to ROI.
• Architecture & Delivery: Decide what to build bespoke and what to configure on existing platforms, and how it all works together safely as one agentic ecosystem.
• Portfolio Oversight: Partner with client engagement teams to oversee a portfolio of agentic AI programmes, ensuring they deliver outcomes, quality and client satisfaction.
• Governance & Ethics: Set the standard for responsible agentic delivery: evaluation, human oversight and governance aligned to emerging US AI regulation.
• Thought Leadership & Growth: Build and lead the US team, and be a recognised voice on agentic marketing and CX.

What success looks like in 12 months:

• A growing US agentic pipeline, with bookings against the growth target agreed when you join.
• Our global agentic delivery standard — value cases, evaluation and governance — improved with lessons from your US engagements and adopted across the team.
• A team of AI Solution Consultants hired and developing, sized to serve the pipeline you have built.

 

Who are you going to work with?

• Direct Leadership: Reports to the Global Head of AI Solution Consulting and Engineering.
• Internal Capabilities: You'll partner closely with our world-class AI Product, AI Engineering, Tech, Data and Client Engagement teams, so the solutions you shape are the solutions we ship.
• The Wider Network: You will work across engagement and technical capabilities to deliver as one team in a multi-agency group like WPP.
• Clients & Stakeholders: You will work directly with CMOs, CDOs, CX leaders, and C-level client executives.
• Your Team: You will build, lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing US team of AI Solution Consultants.

What do you bring to the table?

• 12+ years in consulting, CX or marketing technology, or AI, including 5+ years leading a portfolio, P&L or practice, working at a tech and/or marketing agency consultancy.
• A deep understanding of how marketing organizations really work (campaign planning, creative and content production, CRM and lifecycle, personalization) and where AI changes their speed, cost and creative output.
• A deep understanding of the end-to-end consumer journey, with the ability to identify where AI can transform the moments that matter, create differentiated customer experiences and unlock measurable value for clients.
• Practical fluency with today's AI and agent tools: you can demo an idea in front of a client, you know what agents can and can't reliably do yet, and you have taken generative or agentic AI from pilot to production with results you can quantify.
• A record of originating and closing multi-million programmes, with the executive presence to make AI value and risk clear to C-level audiences.
• A natural collaborator who leads through influence, building trust across engagement and technical capabilities to deliver as one team in a multi-agency group like WPP.
• Experience building, leading and inspiring high-performing teams of consultants.
