Material Handler

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

· Works independently, following written instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved; moves material in warehouse and other areas as needed; loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand; performs warehouse work and mail handling; counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled; tracks and reports on related job duties; packages and loads materials; unpackages parts for receiving and performs login/receiving data entry in the system.

· Records material moves in computer system; performs shipping data entry into computer system; receives purchase orders into computer system.

· Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers; installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.

· Keeps area clean and organized.

· Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.

· Manages and organizes storage areas as needed.

· Continually improves processes; quantitatively monitors processes. Completes required quality core classes and uses skills and techniques presented. Uses The Core Values in work environment. Must adhere to our Quality System. Adheres to company/customer safety procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs), & Competencies:

Essential KSAs:

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Must be capable of doing accurate work and being organized; must be able to operate power tools; must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and have a good driving record; must be qualified to operate a lift truck.

· Ability to: read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, ascend/descend or balance to heights that may require a ladder or lift; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to use close vision and color vision. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. Work is typically performed in a factory environment and is usually very loud. In the factory environment, the employee may be exposed to hazardous materials and/or greasy or slippery factory floors.
