At the Future Fund, we’re for future minds – like yours. The new investors and creators who thrive on different thinking and doing it together. Those who glimpse opportunity before it strikes and step up every day to grab it.
The Future Fund is Australia's Sovereign Wealth Fund, managing over $355 billion across seven public asset funds with the same purpose: growing Australia’s future. We are a global investor and work closely with world leading investment organisations to access the best investment ideas.
Where others see challenges, we see more interesting investment experiences. Every person, every skillset, every mindset is an asset. We’ve got every future generation to consider, yet our approach to investing is incredibly pure: we think about it deeply, and daily. Ours is a culture where great people grow the future together, with the rare ability to work collaboratively, think freely, and make a real difference.
Are you Futureminded? Let’s create what’s next.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced security operations leader to manage the people, processes and technology that support the Future Fund’s operations across cloud and cyber security.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Cloud & Operations, you will lead internal specialists across security operations, threat intelligence and hunting, and identity, while overseeing the managed providers that support these services. The role spans security monitoring and incident response, identity and privileged access, vulnerability management, insider risk and the ongoing improvement of operational controls and playbooks.
You will bring together technical teams, service providers and stakeholders across the Agency to establish clear priorities, manage operational risk and maintain reliable services. As deputy to the Senior Manager, Cloud & Operations, you will also provide leadership cover and exercise delegated responsibilities when required.
This is an opportunity to combine people leadership with hands-on operational judgement in a broad security environment, strengthening capability while supporting the transition of new services into business-as-usual operations.
What You’ll Do
- Lead day-to-day priorities across security operations and identity, coordinating internal specialists and managed providers while balancing service continuity, delivery and risk.
- Oversee security monitoring, event triage and remediation across cloud, endpoint, identity and information protection services.
- Coordinate security incident response, containment, recovery and escalation, and maintain the Agency’s incident management policy, playbooks and response arrangements.
- Strengthen threat intelligence and proactive threat hunting, translating findings and lessons learned into improved detections, triage and response.
- Oversee identity and privileged access operations, vulnerability assessment and remediation, including access reviews, security advisories, patching and the escalation of material exposures.
- Manage service scope, performance, hand-offs and escalations across security providers and internal teams, retaining accountability for service outcomes and resolving delivery issues.
- Lead, coach and develop security operations, threat intelligence, hunting and identity specialists, building resilience through clear expectations, knowledge sharing, cross-training and succession planning.
- Provide clear reporting on security posture, incidents, vulnerabilities, service performance and improvement priorities to senior stakeholders.
About You
You are an experienced security operations leader who combines technical credibility with calm judgement, clear communication and a practical approach to risk. You can lead specialists and external providers, establish priorities across competing demands and communicate security issues effectively to both technical and senior stakeholders.
You’ll bring:
- Demonstrated people leadership and external partner management experience, with responsibility for security operations across identity, vulnerability management, cloud security and incident management.
- Strong cloud and network technical breadth, supported by practical experience with security monitoring, identity, privileged access, information protection and vulnerability-management platforms.
- Experience working with technologies such as Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Entra ID, CyberArk, Qualys or Wiz.
- Experience applying ISO 27000-series and NIST frameworks and translating operational risk into clear priorities and practical remediation.
- The ability to manage incidents and competing operational demands with composure, sound judgement and reliable follow-through.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build constructive relationships across technology, security assurance, risk, business teams and managed providers.
- A degree in computer science, information technology or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
Relevant security certification, such as CISSP or CISM, is preferred. Experience with the Australian Government Information Security Manual or in a Federal Government environment would be advantageous.
Please note that the opportunity is open to Australian citizens only.
