Senior Specialist – Data Centres
Dubai, UAE
Parsons is seeking a highly talented and experienced Senior Specialist – Data Centres to join our team! In this role, you will have the opportunity to support some of the world's most ambitious digital infrastructure and data centre developments. As a Senior Specialist, you will serve as a recognised subject matter expert across the full data centre lifecycle, providing technical leadership and strategic advice to clients and multidisciplinary teams. This role requires a strong understanding of data centre strategy, planning, engineering, operational requirements, sustainability objectives, and industry best practices.
What You'll Be Doing:
Technical Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to clients and provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, supporting data centre strategies, business cases, technical concepts, infrastructure roadmaps, and the successful planning and delivery of data centre developments across their lifecycle.
Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as Parsons' technical authority for data centre infrastructure and digital infrastructure developments.
Contribute to the planning and delivery of resilient, efficient, and sustainable data centre solutions, encompassing power, cooling, ICT infrastructure, operational requirements, and industry best practices.
Standards & Performance: Support the application of relevant standards, regulatory requirements, and operational performance objectives to help clients achieve their resilience, scalability, and sustainability goals.Technical Assurance: Review and assure technical outputs, studies, strategies and designs.
Business Development: Support client engagement, opportunity identification, proposal preparation and technical presentations.
Thought Leadership: Contribute to market positioning, innovation and the growth of Parsons' data centre capabilities globally.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, ICT/ Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Centre Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
Ove 10 years of experience within the data centre, digital infrastructure, or technology sectors.
Experience across the full data centre lifecycle, from strategy and planning through design, delivery, commissioning, and operations.
In depth of data centre environments, with an understanding of resilience, availability, scalability, operational performance, and business continuity requirements, together with the infrastructure needed to support mission-critical operations.
Understanding of data centre technologies and emerging industry trends, including electrical and cooling systems, network and cloud infrastructure, compute and storage platforms, cybersecurity considerations, AI/HPC workloads, and sustainability initiatives such as energy efficiency and carbon reduction.
Demonstrable capability in assessing how business requirements, workloads, application architectures, and data hosting strategies influence data centre design, capacity planning, resilience requirements, and operating models.
Experience working with multidisciplinary technical teams spanning engineering, ICT, architecture, sustainability, security, and operations disciplines.
Demonstrable knowledge of international data centre standards, industry frameworks, and best practice guidance.
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
Proven experience supporting business development, technical proposals, client engagement, and strategic advisory assignments.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional accreditation.
Experience supporting hyperscale, cloud, colocation, enterprise, AI, or edge data centre developments.
Knowledge of Uptime Institute, TIA-942, EN 50600, BICSI 002, ASHRAE and related standards.
Understanding of emerging technologies including AI infrastructure, HPC, liquid cooling, energy storage and microgrids.
Experience advising on national, regional, campus-scale, or portfolio-wide data centre strategies.
Global data centre experience is considered equally valuable as Middle East experience.
Existing industry relationships across the data centre ecosystem.
