The Territory Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and operational execution of 5 RoadDog Convenience Store locations within a 50 mile radius of Dayton, OH. This position is accountable for developing high-performing Store Managers, driving sales and profitability, ensuring consistent execution of RoadDog programs and standards, and delivering an exceptional customer experience across all assigned locations.
The Territory Manager serves as the primary leadership connection between the Operations Manager and Store Managers and is responsible for translating company goals and initiatives into consistent store-level execution. This role regularly visits stores, evaluates performance, coaches store leadership, identifies opportunities, establishes corrective action plans, and follows through to ensure measurable improvement.
The Territory Manager is expected to understand the business performance of every assigned location and proactively address operational, financial, staffing, customer service, and compliance issues.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and operational direction to Store Managers across the assigned territory, establishing clear expectations and holding store leadership accountable for company standards, performance goals, and execution.
- Drive sales, gross profit, and overall profitability by monitoring store-level sales, expenses, labor, inventory, margin, shrink, and other key performance indicators and developing corrective action plans when results fall below expectations.
- Conduct frequent and purposeful store visits to evaluate customer service, cleanliness, merchandising, product availability, RoadDog Rewards, food service, staffing, safety, compliance, and overall store readiness.
- Document opportunities identified during store visits, establish clear responsibilities and timelines for corrective action, and follow up to ensure commitments are completed and measurable improvement occurs.
- Recruit, onboard, coach, develop, and retain high-performing Store Managers while identifying and developing future Store Manager candidates and maintaining strong leadership succession throughout the territory.
- Conduct regular performance discussions with Store Managers, providing actionable feedback, recognizing strong performance, and addressing performance or accountability issues promptly and consistently.
- Monitor staffing levels, leadership coverage, employee retention, and workplace culture across the territory, partnering with Store Managers and Human Resources to address staffing challenges and maintain appropriate store coverage.
- Ensure every location consistently delivers a clean, safe, friendly, and well-stocked RoadDog customer experience while meeting company standards for operational execution, merchandising, product availability, and customer service.
- Ensure consistent execution of company promotions, RoadDog Rewards, marketing initiatives, merchandising programs, and other company priorities while identifying opportunities to increase customer engagement and sales.
- Partner with the Food Service Manager, Store Managers, and Kitchen Managers to support food service sales, profitability, staffing, operational standards, and successful execution of food service programs throughout the territory.
- Ensure stores maintain appropriate inventory levels, product availability, cash controls, loss prevention practices, and compliance with company policies, safety requirements, labor standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Provide hands-on operational leadership during significant staffing shortages, emergencies, or other critical business needs while working with store leadership to develop sustainable solutions that restore normal operations.
- Serve as the primary communication link between Store Managers and the Operations Manager and collaborate with Food Service, Marketing, Human Resources, Maintenance, Merchandising, and other support functions to resolve issues and successfully execute company initiatives.
- Works with Operations Manager to own In-Store Marketing or Loyalty Marketing – will be split up between 2 Territory Managers.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred.
- 3–5+ years of retail or convenience store management experience, including multi-unit responsibility.
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities, with a focus on developing others.
- Proven ability to manage operations, staffing, and financial performance.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel frequently to assigned store locations and work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and other times necessary to effectively evaluate and support store operations.
