The Role + Purpose:

As an Assistant Merchant, you will report to a Merchant and support the execution of Madewell product assortment through sample management, selling analysis, and cross-functional coordination with Design, Planning & Allocation, Marketing, and Sourcing. You will build foundational knowledge of the customer, the product lifecycle, and the competitive marketplace while keeping the day-to-day business organized and on track. In this role, you will begin a career path at the center of how Madewell product comes to life.

• Support the denim team through sample management, line sheets, and administrative tasks that enable product execution

• Pull and organize sales data, recaps, and competitive research to inform merchandising decisions

• Support cross-functional communication with Design, Planning & Allocation, Marketing, and Sourcing by distributing updates and tracking key milestones

• Build foundational knowledge of the customer, product performance, and marketplace trends through store visits and competitive shopping

• Maintain organized assortment documentation and tracking tools

Qualifications:

Required:

• 0-2 years of merchandising, retail, or related experience

• Proficiency in Excel

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Effective communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:

• Experience with retail reporting or product-tracking tools

• A degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related field is a plus, but not required

Hourly Range: $25.48 - $29.74

The base salary offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region of work premises, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.  The base salary is just one component of J.Crew Group’s competitive total rewards strategy that also includes the opportunity for bonus, competitive benefits and perks.
