Lead a Fast-Paced Vehicle Processing Operation

Road & Rail Services is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to provide hands-on leadership for our vehicle processing operation in Jacksonville, Florida. This position is ideal for a motivated supervisor or manager who enjoys leading employees, solving operational challenges, and maintaining high standards for safety, productivity, and customer service.

Reporting directly to the Terminal Manager, the Operations Manager will coordinate daily activities within the Vehicle Handling department and provide leadership to employees responsible for the movement and processing of vehicles.

This is an active operations management position. Successful candidates should be comfortable spending time in the operation, working directly with employees, responding to changing customer demands, and making decisions that keep the operation moving safely and efficiently.

What You'll Be Responsible For

As Operations Manager, you will help oversee the daily performance of the Jacksonville vehicle processing operation. Responsibilities include:

Direct daily activities within the Vehicle Handling department

Plan staffing and workflow based on customer volume and operational requirements

Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to supervisors, leads, and hourly associates

Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training new employees

Conduct or coordinate daily safety meetings and operational briefings

Ensure employees understand their assigned responsibilities, work instructions, and safety procedures

Monitor productivity, quality, attendance, and overall employee performance

Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, site SOPs, and established work instructions

Support compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, FRA, and DOT requirements

Perform operational audits and inspections to identify safety, quality, or performance concerns

Address operational issues and implement corrective actions when necessary

Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and workflow

Maintain effective communication with the Terminal Manager, customers, and employees

Exercise independent judgment regarding staffing, employee performance, promotions, and other operational decisions

What We're Looking For

Qualified candidates should have:

Previous supervisory or management experience

Experience leading employees in a fast-paced operation

Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities

A safety-first approach to managing people and operations

Ability to hold employees accountable while developing a productive team

Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Valid state driver's license

Ability to work collaboratively with management, employees, and customers

Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on operational requirements

Ability to obtain and maintain all required credentials, including a TWIC Badge

Experience in automotive logistics, vehicle processing, transportation, railroad operations, port operations, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, or another industrial environment is beneficial.
