Description
OVERVIEW
A major financial institution's Personal and Business Banking team is looking for a lead developer to join as a technical point of contact and mentor within an existing development team. This person will balance hands-on development work with code review, task coordination, and cross-team communication.
Hourly Rate: $64 T4 / $70 IC
Location: Hybrid, 1 day per week in office downtown Toronto
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own development work across assigned applications within the AWS/Node.js stack
- Conduct code reviews and help drive task completion across the team
- Serve as the primary point of contact in meetings for the applications they own
- Support developers with technical questions and troubleshooting
- Translate technical work into terms non-technical stakeholders can understand
- Manage own workload via Jira, including task tracking against delivery dates
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 to 10 years of professional software development experience
- Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript and JavaScript
- Node.js runtime experience
- AWS experience, specifically Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and DynamoDB
- Demonstrated experience using AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar) in a real production workflow, with the ability to speak to how output is validated
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- C# experience is a plus
- Prior lead or informal mentorship experience is a plus (not people management)
- Banking or financial services experience is a plus, not required
