About the role
We are currently hiring a Production Planner to be responsible for delivering the production plan, ensuring that the schedule is optimised and in line with capacity and production requirements. This role requires close coordination with production teams, the Supply Planning Manager, material planning team, and other departments to ensure that all operational goals are achieved. The planner will be actively involved in daily planning meetings and monitor and adjust the schedule, as necessary.
What you will do
Production Planning
- Develop and deliver the production schedule, supporting teams to deliver the schedule effectively and on time.
- Adjust the schedule as required based on new information, and production requirements to help reduce downtime and improve how production run.
- Work with the Supply Planning Manager to ensure alignment between the production plan and capacity plans, adjusting as needed based on any unplanned disruptions.
Daily Planning Operations
- Participate in daily operations and planning meetings with production, supply chain, and operations teams to review production progress, identify any constraints or issues, and ensure the production plan is being followed.
- Share updates and work with others to address any issues related to capacity constraints, or scheduling conflicts that could affect production timelines.
- Provide real-time updates to the team on the status of the production plan, ensuring transparency and alignment across departments.
On-Site Monitoring
- Be present on site to monitor the execution of the daily production plan, ensuring that everything runs according to schedule.
- Actively address issues that arise during production and work collaboratively with colleagues to find timely solutions and minimise disruptions.
- Ensure that production teams have the necessary resources to deliver agreed daily production priorities.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with production, supply chain, material planning, and dry goods warehouse teams to ensure all resources are available for production.
- Communicate effectively with the Supply Planning Manager to provide feedback on production progress, and any necessary adjustments to the schedule.
- Act as a liaison between the production floor and the wider planning team to ensure production goals are achieved through effective planning and teamwork, and any operational issues are addressed in a timely and collaborative way.
Process Improvement and Optimisation
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the production scheduling process, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and minimise wastage.
- Suggest and implement improvements to scheduling practices and operational workflows to improve production planning.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to improve production efficiency and align schedules with company objectives.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of the production schedule and daily adjustments to ensure that all planning activities are tracked.
- Generate daily and weekly reports on production performance and schedule adherence for review by management and other relevant stakeholders.
Your skills and background
- Have previous experience in a similar Planning role within FMCG environment.
- Understand end-to-end supply chain and manufacturing processes and associated interdependencies and constraints.
- Confident using planning software and ERP systems; experience with Excel and specialist planning tools would be helpful.
- Can process and manage large volumes of data.
