We are hiring a Database Engineering AVP within the Database Services team to design and deliver platform tooling that enables effective management of the enterprise database estate.

This role will focus on building scalable engineering solutions for configuration management, centralised identity integration, and AI-driven automation to support audit and compliance processes. You will work across Oracle, MongoDB, and cloud database platforms (including GCP CloudSQL) to improve control posture, operational efficiency, and audit readiness.

Your key responsibilities

• Designing and delivering engineering tools to manage database configuration, standard builds, and policy enforcement across the estate
• Developing centralised identity management integrations (e.g. AD / IAM) to standardise authentication and access control models
• Building automation and AI-based agents to respond to audit requests, evidence gathering, and compliance reporting
• Driving development of self-service tooling for application teams to onboard, manage, and govern database usage
• Collaborating with security, audit, and control functions to translate regulatory requirements into engineering solutions
• Contributing to platform strategy, focusing on automation, control assurance, and operational scalability

Your skills and experience

• Strong experience in enterprise database engineering (Oracle, MongoDB, and/or cloud databases such as GCP CloudSQL)
• Proven expertise in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar) with focus on tooling development
• Experience implementing configuration management or infrastructure-as-code approaches in database environments
• Knowledge of identity and access management concepts (e.g. LDAP, Active Directory, RBAC models)
• Familiarity with audit, risk, and compliance processes in regulated environments (e.g. financial services)
• Experience working with or developing AI/ML-based automation solutions is highly desirable
