This opportunity would suit a grid specialist with experience working on utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, wind or wider power infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in assessing grid capacity, managing connection applications and working with network operators, consultants and internal project teams to progress projects from early-stage development through to construction.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and manage grid connection activities for renewable energy and battery storage projects.
- Prepare, submit and manage connection applications with transmission and distribution network operators.
- Review grid offers, connection agreements, technical requirements and project risks.
- Assess grid capacity, connection strategies, reinforcement requirements and programme implications.
- Coordinate technical studies, including power flow, fault level, voltage, reactive power and compliance assessments.
- Work closely with project development, engineering, commercial and construction teams.
- Manage relationships with network operators, technical consultants and other external stakeholders.
- Support project due diligence, acquisitions and the evaluation of new development opportunities.
- Monitor regulatory, market and grid-connection developments affecting UK projects.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and wider project teams.
Required experience:
- Professional experience in grid connections, power systems or electrical engineering.
- Experience supporting renewable energy, battery storage or major power infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of UK transmission or distribution connection processes.
- Experience working with organisations such as distribution network operators, the transmission system operator or specialist grid consultants.
- Understanding of connection applications, grid offers, technical studies and connection agreements.
- Strong stakeholder-management and technical communication skills.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering, power systems or a related discipline.
Desirable experience:
- Experience with transmission-connected projects.
- Knowledge of battery energy storage systems.
- Familiarity with UK Grid Code requirements and electricity network regulations.
- Experience using power-system modelling or grid-analysis software.
- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards professional registration.
The opportunity:
- Work on a growing portfolio of renewable energy and energy storage projects.
- Contribute to technically complex and strategically important grid connections.
- Collaborate with experienced development, engineering and commercial professionals.
- Hybrid working arrangements may be available.
- Competitive salary and benefits based on experience.
Candidates based in London or within a reasonable commuting distance are encouraged to apply. Applications are also welcomed from grid professionals who may be considering their next opportunity within the UK renewable energy and energy storage market.
