This position reports to:
Procurement Team Lead__
As a Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting ABB Electrification's manufacturing operations by managing sourcing and procurement activities for materials and components. You will identify and develop suppliers, negotiate commercial agreements, ensure on-time material availability, and drive supplier performance to meet business objectives related to quality, cost, delivery, and sustainability. Working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers, you will contribute to a resilient and efficient supply chain that supports ABB's operational excellence and growth.
Responsibilities
Source and qualify suppliers in collaboration with category, quality, and engineering teams, while supporting the development of a competitive and reliable supplier base for the business.
Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and supply agreements with suppliers, evaluate supplier quotations, and recommend sourcing strategies that deliver the best overall value to ABB.
Manage procurement activities including purchase order creation, supplier order management, delivery follow-up, invoice verification, and maintaining accurate procurement data within SAP Ariba and ERP systems.
Monitor and drive supplier performance across key metrics such as quality, cost, delivery, lead time, and sustainability, while working closely with internal stakeholders to resolve supply issues and ensure business continuity.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 1-3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain management within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience sourcing direct materials, electrical components, or industrial products, preferably within the electrification, electrical equipment, automation, or manufacturing industries.
Strong negotiation, supplier management, and commercial acumen, with demonstrated experience in contract management and cost optimization initiatives.
Knowledge of ERP and procurement systems such as SAP, SAP Ariba, or equivalent platforms, with strong analytical and data management capabilities.
Ability to evaluate supplier performance, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, production, and planning.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
Demonstrated commitment to integrity, compliance, safety, and ethical business practices, with an understanding of procurement governance, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
