This role offers a hybrid work schedule. Please note that the training period is fully in-office to ensure proper support and onboarding. After training, team members generally work on-site 1–2 days per week, with the possibility of additional in-office days during special projects.

Job Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, including validating employee time records, resolving payroll discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with company policies and payroll regulations. This role partners closely with employees and operations teams to support payroll accuracy, process adjustments, and maintain payroll data within Workday.
Essential Job Duties:
Validate all employee hours in time reporting systems
Work with operations on any questions related to missing hours or discrepancies with time
Review accuracy of all hours and pay after integration to Workday including time and pay calcs are working as expected
Process weekly payroll for employees accurately and timely
Monitor Workday tasks (direct deposits, tax changes, terminations, etc.) for timely completion
Process payroll inputs for deductions corrections, bonuses, vacation payouts, and other adjustments to pay
Review and confirm retro calculations from prior pay period adjustments
Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve issues promptly
Process off cycle and on demand employee payments as needed
Process ACH, wires, stop payments, and issuing replacement checks as needed
Maintain knowledge of union and utility contracts to ensure compliance
Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local working rules to ensure payroll and tax compliance
Ensure that payroll procedures are up to date and accurate
Assist with payroll-related reporting, audits, and reconciliations
Assist field employees and operations as needed
Support, actively participate and act in accordance with Wright’s culture of safety and employee ownership
Comply and maintain knowledge of and follow all company policies and procedures
Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
Handle multiple assignments and special projects and other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Ability Requirements:
Working knowledge of the company’s policies and procedures
Must be able to communicate and work effectively with other internal teams such as Operations, Contracts, HR, Benefits, IT, FDS, Workday
HRIS, Billing, and Accounting
Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and payroll information
Must have strong knowledge of payroll and tax compliance
Must exhibit exceptional customer service skills, requiring professional tact, discretion, and self-expression when dealing with internal and
external customers
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organizational skills and tendencies; the ability to work on multiple tasks and projects concurrently; extremely detail oriented
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining company standards
Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
Education, Certification & Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
Minimum of 2 years of relevant payroll and tax experience
Other Preferred Requirements:
Ability to speak Spanish is a plus
Basic knowledge of Workday
Basic knowledge of time reporting systems
Payroll multi-state and local tax experience
