Booster Pump Operator / Oiler - Dredging
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Booster Pump Operator / Olier to join our growing team at Gator Dredging. You must have at least 2 years of booster pump operating experience in dredging.
Starting Hourly Pay Range for This Position: $20.00 to $26.00. This is based on previous work experience, skills, and current certifications / professional licenses.
Responsibilities For the Booster Pump Operator / Oiler:
- Start, monitor, and stop barge-mounted or land-based booster pumps to assist the dredging operations.
- Adjust pump speeds (manual or automated) to match inlet pressures, avoid cavitation, and prevent pressure spikes
- Lubricate moving parts of booster pumps to reduce friction and wear.
- Perform routine inspections of booster pumps to identify potential issues.
- Monitor and maintain oil levels in pumps and reservoirs.
- Replace worn-out or damaged parts to ensure continuous operation.
- Assist in the installation and setup of new booster pumps.
- Document maintenance activities and report any abnormalities to supervisors.
- Clean and maintain the work area to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff to troubleshoot and resolve pump issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned and required for Operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements For the Booster Pump Operator / Oiler:
- 2 years of booster pump operating experience in dredging.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and components.
- Must be able to travel.
- OSHA Certification a plus.
- Boating or Equipment Certifications a plus.
- Provide your own reliable transportation to and from the job site.
- Must be able to work outside for entire shift in all weather conditions (hot, humid, cold, wet) required.
- Be honest, hardworking, reliable, punctual and attitude to get the job done.
Physical Demands/Work Environment for The Booster Pump Operator / Oiler:
- Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will use sit, use hands, talk/hear; Frequently will reach with hands; Occasionally will stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste/smell.
- Lift and/or Move Functions: Regularly will lift up to 10 pounds; Frequently will lift up to 25 pounds; Occasionally will lift up to 50 pounds.
