Description

MISSION: Project Healthy Minds is a tech-driven mental health non-profit dedicated to expanding access to mental health services across the United States for every community. Project Healthy Minds focuses on three programmatic areas: (1) destigmatizing mental health by mobilizing culture-makers; (2) expanding access to mental health services through the world's first free digital mental health marketplace (think OpenTable or Expedia but for mental health services); and (3) advocating for innovative workplace investments in employee mental health. Project Healthy Minds' programmatic initiatives serve more than 200,000 people annually.

We believe in a simple but profound idea: that it should be as easy to find mental health services as it is to book a flight or a restaurant reservation. That’s why we’ve built the world’s first free online mental health marketplace so that every American can find the mental health services that are right for them.

To do that, we work with some of the most inspiring and influential leaders in America—business titans, tech entrepreneurs, clinicians and scientists, musicians, artists, athletes, media stars, policymakers, and more—because we believe that the world’s most complex challenges require interdisciplinary teams and solutions.

The non-profit has also attracted an unusual cross-section of leaders from across technology, entertainment, finance, real estate, sports, media, and more – including more than 6 NFL owners, a number of Giving Pledge signers, and companies like BlackRock, RBC Capital Markets, KPMG, Nespresso, PepsiCo, NBCUniversal, Warner Bros. Discovery, L'Oreal, Lululemon, Unilever, and more.

We are backed by a powerhouse of industry-leading Board of Directors and Advisory Council members who are passionate, hands-on, and dive into the important work with us.

THE OPPORTUNITY: We are looking for a visionary and ambitious development leader who is as talented at frontline fundraising as they are at building and managing a team or crafting a development strategic plan. We are growing quickly and need a proven leader to help shape the development strategy and lead the hands-on execution of that plan. This is an ideal opportunity for a talented front-line fundraiser who gets equally excited at cultivating and strengthening relationships with key donors as they get about building teams, designing systems, and executing a multiyear strategic planReporting to the Founder & CEO, Phillip Schermer, this role will serve as a thought partner and senior counselor to the CEO. Reporting to the Vice President of Development will be a team that currently includes the Major Gifts Officer, Director of Events, Development Operations Associate, and the additional resource of a development consultant. Resources are available to build out the development team, in alignment with revenue goals and projections.

FUNDING: The organization is growing at an exceptional rate of more than 60% YoY and is on an ambitious growth trajectory with a goal of growing annual philanthropic revenue to $25 million/year within the next five years.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IS:

  • An entrepreneur at heart – you are a builder at heart and are excited about growing a development function. You bring that entrepreneurial spirit into everything you do, taking initiative and actively seeking to deepen current donor relationships and forge new ones.
  • A skilled fundraiser – you bring a wealth of experience with individual fundraising in the non-profit sector. You have actively managed and grown a donor pool and secured six-, seven-, and eight-figure gifts, and you are eager to build a diverse portfolio of supporters for Project Healthy Minds. You offer extensive knowledge of industry standards and best practices. Knowledgeable about the greater New York and national philanthropic communities.
  • Emotionally intelligent – you understand that the heart of this role lies in building deep, thoughtful relationships with our stakeholders. With excellent communication skills, reliability, and a positive disposition, you care about serving as the main point of contact for a large group of stakeholders with wide-ranging personalities and backgrounds. Your excellent interpersonal skills allow you to develop and maintain long-term productive relationships both internally and externally.
  • A born leader – you lead, inspire, and collaborate with your development colleagues through your vision and empathy. You are a thought partner to the Founder & CEO and are intuitively talented at managing a development team of full-time and part-time staff.
  • Flexible – you can be nimble and easily balance different priorities, with experience and comfort working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You have the ability to travel, as necessary.
  • Mission-driven – you are passionate about our work and are motivated to raise money to expand access to mental health services.
  • Driven by customer satisfaction – as you remain laser-focused on fundraising, your principal goal is to give each donor a customized, outstanding experience with Project Healthy Minds.
  • Experienced – bachelor’s degree and 15-25 years in non-profit fundraising. Management experience is required. The ideal candidate has a full set of fundraising experience: individual major giving, corporate partnerships, foundation relations, etc.

This is a full-time, in-office position. The compensation range for this role is $200,000-$250,000, depending on experience, skills, and other relevant considerations, plus the opportunity for incentive compensation and attractive benefits.
