WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Event Production Technician plays a critical hands-on role in the technical design, setup, execution, and support of onsite, hybrid, and virtual events for an established multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company. This role is responsible for:
- applying technical expertise and creative problem-solving to support the execution of live, hybrid, and virtual events in alignment with the creative and operational vision;
- operating, configuring, and maintaining video, audio, streaming, and control room systems to ensure high-quality event delivery;
- supporting real-time production decisions during live events, including making adjustments to maintain broadcast quality and operational stability;
- collaborating closely with production teams and clients to ensure seamless execution across physical and virtual event environments; and
- contributing to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization of production facilities, control rooms, and event technologies
Day-To-Day Responsibilities:
Production Meeting Support
- Provide technical consultation on the design and execution of live, hybrid, and virtual event experiences using professional video, audio, and presentation systems.
- Support the coordination and execution of virtual meetings and events across enterprise platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and comparable technologies, including live production support and moderation as needed.
- Act in a producer or technical producer capacity when required, including managing show flow, coordinating speakers, controlling timing, and ensuring smooth execution of virtual and hybrid events.
- Coordinate technical production requirements for all events and ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.
- Support presenter preparation, including rehearsals, run-throughs, technical checks, and live-day readiness.
- Ensure thorough quality checks of all event assets, systems, and configurations prior to live production.
- Participate in post-event reviews, incident documentation, and technical postmortems to identify issues and improvement opportunities.
- Assist in postproduction tasks including basic editing, clipping, and delivery of recorded content and event assets.
- Collaborate on the evaluation of production workflows and recommend improvements for studio, control room, and event space operations.
- Participate in regular production meetings to align schedules, technical requirements, and upcoming event briefs
Technical Events
- Execute setup, configuration, and operation of all required control rooms and production systems to support high-quality live event delivery.
- Determine and validate required hardware, equipment, and technical assets for events, ensuring readiness through testing and quality control processes.
- Operate and support full production workflows, including but not limited to:
- technical direction and show control
- audio mixing and sound management
- virtual and hybrid production platforms
- graphics creation and playout systems
- video playback and media server operation
- live streaming and encoding workflows
- Apply expert knowledge of production equipment to optimize configurations, troubleshoot issues, and support repair or replacement decisions.
- Support preventative maintenance activities across all production equipment and systems, ensuring operational readiness at all times.
- Troubleshoot technical issues across video, audio, networking, control systems, and streaming infrastructure, escalating complex issues when required.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must-have skills & job qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in live event production, broadcast, video production, or related technical event environments.
- 3+ years of experience supporting onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events.
- Strong studio and control room production experience, including hands-on operation of live event systems.
- Experience with control room equipment including video switchers, audio consoles, robotic cameras, and video playback systems.
- Knowledge of virtual production environments and enterprise meeting platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
- Ability to support virtual event production and execution in a producer or technical producer capacity, including managing event flow, speaker coordination, and live show operations.
- Strong understanding of broadcast production workflows, signal flow, and live event execution.
- Ability to make real-time technical decisions under pressure to maintain broadcast quality and event continuity.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and consistent operational discipline.
- Ability to work independently while remaining highly collaborative within production teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with clients, presenters, and production stakeholders.
- Proven ability to maintain composure and deliver high-quality results in fast-paced, high-pressure live event environments.
- Strong work ethic, adaptability, and commitment to white-glove service standards.
Nice-to-have skills
- Experience with production switchers including TriCaster, or equivalent platforms.
- Experience with audio systems including Yamaha consoles, Dante, Shure, and professional intercom systems.
- Experience with encoding/decoding systems or equivalent streaming infrastructure.
- Experience with Adder KVM systems and production routing environments.
- Familiarity with post-production tools including Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
- Background in video production, communications technology, or related field.
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Limited travel may be required based on requirements and location of productions and service needs including meetings at client offices and AVI-SPL offices
- Ability to lift/carry 50lbs.
