Description
Associate, Corporate Development & Ventures
India Team Lead
Location: Chennai, India
Department: Corporate Development & Ventures
Position Overview
Trimble is seeking a high-caliber Corporate Development & Ventures Associate to serve as the founding team lead of our India-based Corporate Development team supporting the North American team. This role sits at the center of Trimble's inorganic growth strategy — evaluating acquisitions, partnerships, and venture investments that shape long-term competitive advantage across construction, geospatial, infrastructure, and AI-driven workflows.
You will lead a team of one or two analysts in India while working directly with senior corporate development leaders globally. This is a dual-mandate role: you are both a hands-on practitioner — building models, conducting rigorous analysis, and developing investment presentations — and a team lead responsible for the quality, throughput, and professional development of your analysts. The role is designed for individuals who combine strong financial and analytical skills with strategic judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the organizational maturity to lead a high-performance team in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Modeling & Valuation and Analysis
- Build and own robust financial models including 3-statement models, DCF, comparable company and transaction analyses, LBO frameworks, and scenario/sensitivity analysis to support M&A and investment decisions
- Analyze unit economics, revenue drivers, margin structures, and capital efficiency across target companies
- Evaluate deal structures, valuation ranges, and key financial risks across acquisitions and venture investments
- Assess strategic fit, competitive positioning, and risk factors across potential targets
- Prepare structured investment memos and analytical summaries that support go/no-go decisions
2. Presentation & Communication Development
- Develop high-quality investment presentations, board materials, and executive briefings that synthesize financial and strategic analysis into compelling narratives
- Build repeatable presentation templates and communication frameworks that elevate the team's output quality and consistency
- Prepare materials for internal investment reviews, portfolio updates, and strategic planning discussions
3. Pipeline Management & Process Development
- Own CRM pipeline integrity across all M&A and venture opportunities, ensuring real-time visibility into deal stage, ownership, and next steps
- Design, implement, and continuously improve structured deal workflows including stage gates, scoring criteria, and prioritization frameworks
- Build and standardize analytical processes, templates, and playbooks that increase team efficiency and output quality
- Drive innovation in pipeline management by leveraging AI tools, automation, and data enrichment capabilities
- Flag stalled deals, upcoming decision points, and key risks across the funnel to senior team members
4. Market Intelligence & Thematic Research
- Lead thematic research on industry trends, competitive dynamics, emerging technologies, and whitespace opportunities relevant to Trimble's strategic priorities
- Build and maintain market maps, competitive landscapes, and sector analyses across construction technology, geospatial, transportation, and AI-enabled workflows
- Track venture funding activity, private equity transactions, and strategic moves by key competitors and adjacent players
- Synthesize market intelligence into structured briefings that inform deal origination and investment thesis development
5. Team Leadership & Development
- Directly manage and mentor two analysts based in India, providing day-to-day direction, analytical guidance, and structured feedback
- Assign and oversee analyst workstreams, ensuring quality, accuracy, and on-time delivery
- Foster a high-performance team culture focused on analytical rigor, intellectual curiosity, and continuous improvement
- Support analyst professional development through coaching, skills training, and exposure to live deal work
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, management consulting, or corporate development
- Demonstrated experience building complex financial models and conducting rigorous investment or strategic analysis
- Strong background in market research, competitive analysis, and industry landscape mapping
- Prior experience managing or mentoring junior analysts strongly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to present complex analysis clearly to senior audiences
- Familiarity with AI tools and automation to enhance research and analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field required
- MBA or CFA strongly preferred
