PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate ocean shipments for import / export, including booking, documentation, and dispatch.
Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transport providers to ensure smooth cargo movement.
Prepare and process bills of lading, customs declarations, and other required documentation.
Monitor shipments and ensure they travel as planned; proactively communicate any delays or disruptions to customers and stakeholders.
Coordinate cargo pick-ups and deliveries, including local transport arrangements and warehouse interactions.
Overall job management including WIPS, accruals, costs and closures.
Timely and accurate processing of customer invoices, reports and creditor approvals.
Maintain accurate shipment records and update internal systems (e.g., CargoWise One).
Ensure compliance with country customs, quarantine, and maritime regulations.
Respond to customer inquiries, provide booking confirmations, and maintain strong client relationships through timely communication.
Manage invoicing, cost allocations, and creditor approvals; identify opportunities for rate reviews and cost control.
Demonstrate commercial awareness by understanding job profitability and contributing to financial performance.
Previous Work Experience & Qualifications
1–3 years’ experience in ocean operations
Understanding of country customs and air cargo regulations.
Familiarity with freight management systems and Microsoft Office.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
Team player with a proactive and customer-focused approach.
Willingness to learn and take on varied operational tasks.
