We're looking for an Associate Developer to join our Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career developer who is eager to learn, grow their technical skills, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality software solutions within a collaborative and supportive environment.
As an Associate Developer, you'll work alongside experienced engineers in a cross-functional team to design, build, test, deploy, and support software solutions. You'll gain hands-on experience with modern development practices, cloud technologies, AI-assisted engineering tools, and operational support while developing a strong foundation in software engineering.
This role is ideal for someone with up to two years of experience, recent graduates, or individuals who have gained practical experience through internships, personal projects, or tertiary study.
What you’ll be doing
Software Development & Delivery
- Develop, test, deploy, and support secure, maintainable software solutions under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Contribute across the software development lifecycle, from design through to production support.
- Build foundational expertise in C#, .NET, SQL, and related technologies.
- Gain exposure to broader technologies including Node.js, AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Participate in designing and developing APIs, integrations, and scalable application features.
Engineering Excellence
- Apply engineering best practices including automated testing, secure coding, CI/CD, observability, and operational support.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar technologies to accelerate learning and improve productivity.
- Assist with defect investigation, troubleshooting, incident management, and root cause analysis.
- Contribute to technical documentation, system improvements, and technical debt reduction initiatives.
Collaboration & Learning
- Participate in peer reviews, sprint ceremonies, technical discussions, and team planning activities.
- Work closely with Software Engineers, Business Analysts, QA Engineers, Solution Architects, and Platform Engineers.
- Seek feedback, learn from experienced team members, and continuously develop your technical capabilities.
- Share knowledge and contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
What you bring
You don’t need to tick every box, but experience in the below will set you up for success.
Experience & Skills
- Up to 2 years' experience in software development or engineering, including experience gained through internships, university projects, or personal projects.
- Foundational programming experience in C#/.NET or another object-oriented programming language with a willingness to learn C#/.NET.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles and source control using Git.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and a genuine passion for learning and technology.
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to RESTful APIs and system integrations.
- Knowledge of Node.js or modern web development practices.
- Interest in cloud technologies including AWS and GCP.
- Awareness of Infrastructure as Code concepts, such as Terraform.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.
- Exposure to monitoring, observability, incident management, or production support activities.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools including GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
