Description
What this Job Entails:
The Software Engineer designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for enhancements and new products. They will also develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms.
Scope:
- Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways
- Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of their specialty
- Works on problems of a diverse scope
- Receives little instruction on day to day work, general instruction on new assignments
Responsibilities
- Provide operational support for Java-based applications and services running in production.
- Troubleshoot application, server, and infrastructure issues to quickly restore service.
- Analyze logs, performance metrics, and system behavior to identify root causes.
- Support Linux-based server environments and application infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with software engineers, DevOps, SRE, and infrastructure teams.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and production support activities.
- Monitor application health, system performance, and availability.
- Document operational procedures and troubleshooting guides.
- Recommend improvements to system reliability, scalability, and automation.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and 5 to 8 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Expert-level experience supporting and troubleshooting Java applications.
- Strong knowledge of Linux server administration.
- Experience supporting production environments with high availability requirements.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or similar.
- Proficiency in Python scripting.
- Working knowledge of Go (Golang).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working with various development programs
- Ability to quickly learn customer support processes, tools and techniques
- Understanding of how to configure third-party software components and technologies
- Ability to perform root cause analysis of network, operating system, and other issues
- Ability to collaborate and work remotely including use of communication tools
- Ability to multi-task and self-organize including prioritization of activities
- Experience using monitoring systems
- Attention to detail
Nice to have Qualifications
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Kubernetes and Docker experience.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or New Relic.
- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with REST APIs and microservices.
- Experience with Git and version control.
Physical Demand & Work Environment:
- Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing
- Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment
- Must be able to use a computer
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively
- Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Salary Range
$114,000.00 - $180,000.00 USD (Salary)- Please note that the salary information provided herein is base pay only (gross); it does not include other forms of compensation which may or may not apply to this specific position, namely, performance-based bonuses, benefits-related payments, or other general incentives - none of which are guaranteed, may be subject to specific eligibility requirements, and are wholly within the discretion of Astreya to remit.
- Further, the salary information noted above is a range that consists of a minimum and maximum rate of pay for this specific position. Where an applicant or employee is placed on this range will depend and be contingent on objective, documented work-related considerations like education, experience, certifications, licenses, preferred qualifications, among other factors.
