Overview
SSOE Group is currently seeking an experienced Senior Piping Designer to join our team in Mumbai. The Designer may support both small and large scale industrial projects using either Plant3D or Revit to provide value based design for our world-class clients.As part of an international design firm and working with a USA based team, you will have the unique opportunity to work on US based projects and communicate regularly with international colleagues.An ideal candidate will have previous A/E experience and chemical plant experience as well as a passion for collaboration and team work. Due to the international team structure, the ability to communicate will be key to success. The time zone differential between the U.S. and Mumbai will drive the need for good communication by phone (preferred), email and acceptance of flexible working hours.

Responsibilities
The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing:
- Interpret P&IDs and translate process requirements into equipment and piping designs using established engineering principles, standards, and industry best practices.
- Apply standard design methods and procedures while exercising sound judgment to adapt and modify design solutions as required.
- Prepare detailed design deliverables, construction packages, addenda, bulletins, and support project change order documentation.
- Coordinate design activities across multiple projects, ensuring schedules, quality standards, and project objectives are met.
- Participate in internal and client meetings, present design progress, document action items, and ensure timely follow-up on design changes.
- Review and check design calculations, drawings, equipment submittals, and shop drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate and direct the work of designers assigned to the project, including reviewing portions of completed work for quality and consistency.
- Research technical solutions, evaluate design alternatives, and document recommendations for project leadership.
- Collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project execution and alignment with overall project objectives.
- Attend construction and site coordination meetings, perform site observations, prepare punch lists, and assist in resolving field design issues during construction.
- Develop and maintain productive client relationships through regular interaction and technical support.
- Assist in the preparation of technical specifications, design documentation, and construction cost estimates.
- Take ownership of assigned project tasks with guidance on complex or unusual engineering challenges.
- Serve as a Job Captain or lead designer for single-discipline projects when required.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills while working with geographically distributed project teams.
- Participate in professional development and leadership training opportunities to enhance supervisory and project management capabilities.
Qualifications
What will you bring?
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 8 to 12 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Plant 3D and AutoCAD 2D for piping and plant design applications.
- Working knowledge of Revit and Autodesk Inventor is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in piping design and layout development.
- Strong understanding of process and chemical piping systems, including applicable design standards and industry best practices.
- Experience with utility piping systems, particularly steam and condensate networks.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Demonstrated leadership potential with a proactive approach to ownership, accountability, and team coordination.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Navisworks, and the integration of point cloud laser scan data within 3D modeling environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with project stakeholders and clients.
- Must be adaptable to work during evening hours to ensure communication with stakeholders in the USA.
