Job Summary

• The role serves as an Electrical/Hardware Engineering subject matter expert within the Design to Value (DTV) team, responsible for delivering electrical/hardware cost intelligence, competitive benchmarking, and design-for-cost insights across the product lifecycle.
• Leads complex electrical teardown and should-cost analysis to identify cost drivers, architecture opportunities, design trade-offs, and competitive gaps across products and platforms.
• Partners closely with R&D, Product Management, Procurement, ODMs, and suppliers to shift cost decisions upstream, influence electrical architecture and design choices, and enable fact-based RFQ and sourcing strategies.
• Applies advanced electrical engineering and cost intelligence expertise to cross-organization initiatives, driving innovation, standardization, AI-enabled analytics, and scalable DTV capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Leads complex electrical competitive teardown and should-cost projects across products, platforms, and technologies, providing actionable insights on architecture, components, BOM, specifications, and cost drivers.
• Develops and applies electrical cost modeling methodologies to establish should-cost, benchmark supplier quotes, identify cost gaps, and support fact-based sourcing and negotiation strategies.
• Provides expert-level assessment of electrical architectures, including PCB, power, connectivity, compute, memory, storage, display, battery/adapter, and other key electrical subsystems.
• Identifies opportunities for Design-for-Cost, Design-for-Manufacturing, component optimization, specification optimization, and complexity reduction across the product lifecycle.
• Partners with R&D and product teams to embed cost intelligence into early architecture, design reviews, RFQ, and PLC checkpoints, enabling shift-left cost and sourcing decisions.
• Conducts competitive benchmarking and teardown analysis to translate competitor product strategies into actionable cost, architecture, and design insights.
• Collaborates with Procurement, ODMs, and suppliers to validate cost assumptions, component pricing, manufacturing processes, and technology trends.
• Develops fact-based cost insights, business cases, and recommendations that support cost savings, cost avoidance, product competitiveness, and profitability.
• Establishes and improves standardized electrical teardown, cost modeling, benchmarking, and analytical methodologies to strengthen the DTV Cost Intelligence COE.
• Drives adoption of AI, automation, and digital tools to improve the speed, scalability, consistency, and quality of teardown and cost intelligence processes.
• Provides expert guidance and mentoring to DTV team members and cross-functional partners, building electrical cost intelligence capability and technical depth across the organization.
• Leads professionally structured technical and executive-level reports, translating complex electrical findings into clear business implications and actionable recommendations.

Education & Experience Recommended

• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 10+ years of relevant experience in electrical/electronic engineering, product development, cost engineering, value engineering, teardown, should-cost modeling, sourcing, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in electrical architecture, components, PCB systems, electronics manufacturing, and product cost structures.
• Experience working across R&D, Product Management, Procurement, ODMs, and suppliers in a global product development environment.
• Experience in competitive analysis, teardown, cost modeling, Design-for-Cost, Value Engineering, or supplier cost benchmarking is strongly preferred.

Preferred Certifications

• PMP, Cost Engineering, Value Engineering, or related professional certification is a plus.

• Leads or provides expertise to high-impact, cross-functional initiatives that influence product architecture, cost competitiveness, sourcing strategy, and product profitability.
• Serves as a recognized electrical cost intelligence SME and contributes to the development of DTV as a world-class Cost Intelligence COE.

Complexity

• Works on highly complex problems involving electrical architecture, technology, cost, supplier, manufacturing, and market variables where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple interdependent factors.
• Operates with a high degree of independence and applies advanced technical and business judgment to ambiguous problems, translating complex data into clear recommendations and business outcomes.
