*Assist Chief in providing day to day oversight of the police department
*Oversees the Clery Act Reporting Requirements, Statistics and Annual Security Reporting
*Assumes command responsibility for the department in the Chief's absence
*Oversees recruiting, training, background investigations of new hires along with submitting appropriate documentation to NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Division
*Oversees the Video Surveillance system, working collaboratively with the IT department, to maintain the system, ensure its operability and assist with obtaining any video footage pertaining to open investigations
*Oversees the Informacast Mass Notification system to ensure its operability in the event of emergencies at Wake Tech and test system monthly.
*Evaluates updates and new technology for the Informacast Mass Notification system utilized at Wake Tech.
Assist the chief with review of construction/blueprint layout so fall new construction projects at Wake Tech.
Meets with all project managers to ensure uniformity of life safety requirements across all of WTCC campuses to include video camera layout, door access and locking, and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) concepts.
Oversees and updates policy and procedures with guidance from NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards
Ensures policies are updated in compliance with any new General Statutes or changes to the existing General Statutes of the State of NCKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Intermediate computer skills, particularly with Microsoft products
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a working knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling
Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
Must hold state certification and be a North Carolina sworn law enforcement officer
Ten years of experience as a law enforcement officer with experience in both administration and patrol duties or field experience
Experience supervising a large employee group of sworn and civilian personnel (over 25 individuals)
Must possess a valid North Carolina license and have no record of arrest for major offenses, and no felony convictions
Master’s Degree preferably in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or related field
Working knowledge of higher education mass communication systems
Working knowledge of video surveillance and recording devices
Detective experience, family violence, youth services
Experience working with juveniles or young adults
