Description
A well-established mechanical contractor in the Concord area is looking to add a Mechanical Purchasing Assistant to its growing team! This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, respected company with a strong reputation in the mechanical construction industry. The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of experience purchasing construction materials, preferably within the mechanical or plumbing sector, along with a solid understanding of plumbing products and materials.

Responsibilities include:
- Reviews drawings and specifications to procure the appropriate materials for an awarded project
- Provides support to the project on an ongoing basis, to Project Managers and Field Staff with regards to materials, tools and rentals ordered
- Interfaces with all levels of organizations, both internally and externally.
- Collaborates with members of the purchasing department within company to help provide a complete procurement solution.
- Maintain organized electronic files.
- Prioritize orders received from multiple sources
- Maintain professional supplier relations
As part of their duties, the Purchasing Assistant daily tasks include but are not limited to the following:
- Send RFQs to suppliers.
- Receive and review supplier quotes against project requirements
- Assess the validity of received supplier quotes
- Issue purchase orders with correct cost codes to suppliers
- Post values in purchase orders by cost code
- Review invoices to show breakdown by cost code
- Pursue order acknowledgements
- Follow-up on deliveries with suppliers and foremen to make sure of timeliness
- Expedite back-orders to meet deadlines
- Request proof of deliveries for missing orders
- Coordinate return of materials from site or shop
- Request RMAs for returns and ensure credits match RMAs
- Coordinate special project releases
- Distribute shop drawings to project managers
- Place equipment rentals and off renting
- Online purchases and brokerage accounts
