Description
Emergent builds autonomous coding agents that replace traditional software development by generating, testing, and deploying production applications directly from plain-language intent. Our systems run in production at global scale and are used to build millions of real applications.
Since our public launch, we've crossed $130M in Annualised Revenue and grown to over 10M users across 190+ countries, who have built 12M+ applications on Emergent. We're backed by Creaegis, Khosla Ventures, SoftBank, Lightspeed, Together, Y Combinator, Google, Claypond and Sentinel Global.
We're solving the hard part of AI-driven software creation: correctness, reliability, security, and scale in real production systems. The team is built by repeat founders, Olympiad medalists, IIT & IIM alumni, and leaders from Google, Amazon, and Dropbox.
We're hiring builders who want ownership, speed, and impact at global scale.
The Role:
We are hiring a Legal Associate to review contracts at Emergent. This is a hands-on role at the center of a fast-moving business: most of your day is reading, marking up, and closing commercial agreements so deals and vendors move without waiting on legal. You will work closely with the business, product, and the legal team, and learn technology contracts from the inside at one of the fastest-growing AI companies in the world. This role is based in Bengaluru.
What You'll Do:
- Review and redline commercial contracts end-to-end, including customer agreements, enterprise MSAs, vendor and SaaS agreements, consultant agreements, and NDAs
- Work through a high volume of contracts every day, keeping turnaround fast while flagging the risks that matter
- Mark up clauses such as liability, indemnity, IP ownership, confidentiality, data protection, and termination against our standard positions
- Take contracts from first review through counterparty comments to signature, and track status
- Review data processing terms and privacy clauses with an eye on India's DPDP Act and GDPR
- Give business, sales, and procurement teams clear, quick answers on contract questions
- Maintain contract templates, clause libraries, and playbooks, and suggest fixes when the same issue keeps coming up
- Keep contract trackers and records accurate across our India and US entities
- Spot recurring issues in contracts and flag them early so the team can update standard terms
What We're Looking For:
- 1 to 3 years of experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, ideally at a technology, consumer, or SaaS company or a strong law firm
- LLB from a reputed law school, with Bar Council enrolment a plus
- Hands-on experience marking up NDAs, MSAs, vendor and SaaS agreements, and customer contracts
- Working knowledge of data privacy terms (DPDP Act, GDPR) and basic IP and confidentiality concepts
- Comfort working at speed in a startup or high-volume contracts environment is a plus
- Sharp attention to detail, with the judgment to spot the risks that matter and move quickly on the rest
- Clear written and verbal communication, and the confidence to push back politely and explain legal risk in plain language
- Curiosity about AI and technology contracts, and a willingness to learn quickly
- Ownership mindset: you take a contract, see it through, and ask for help early
Benefits and Perks:
- Daily Meals: Lunch and Dinner provided
- Family Insurance: 5 Lakhs worth of coverage for you and your family
- Unlimited Paid Time Off: Take the time you need to recharge and come back refreshed
- Flexible Working Hours: Work arrangements that fit your life and commitments
Let's build the future of software together.
