Overview
i3 is seeking a Data Specialist to support the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Agency Information Management and Software Services (AIMSS) program. The AIMSS mission is to deliver accurate, timely, and secure test data products supporting missile defense analysis and decision-making.
Supports the Missile Defense Agency's test data national archive by managing user registration and account access as well as executing scheduled data reviews and audits and applying professional library standards to both physical and electronic holdings.
Responsibilities
Documentation Development & Translation
- Analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate a variety of technical documents, reports, training manuals, and/or standard operating procedures.
- Obtain and design the display of graphics in the production of documents.
- Produce technical and scientific illustrations for presentations and/or publications.
- Develop gather and organize program related information.
- Collaborate with technical teams and business partners.
- Contribute to the deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
- Demonstrate strong technical skills with the ability to learn new information quickly.
User Registration & Access
- Process new user account requests and verify eligibility, clearance, and need-to-know.
- Maintain user records, access levels, and periodic account recertification.
- Disable or modify accounts on separation, role change, or expiration.
- Serve as first-line support for login, access, and registration issues.
- Track requests and report access metrics to leadership.
Archive Management
- Execute quarterly data reviews to verify completeness, accuracy, classification markings, and retrievability of archived holdings.
- Conduct the annual archive audit, document findings, and track corrective actions to closure
- Implement librarian best practices for physical and electronic data, including cataloging, metadata, naming conventions, version control, and retention schedules.
- Maintain physical media and records with proper storage, labeling, inventory, and chain-of-custody controls.
- Manage electronic data integrity through file organization, backup verification, and access controls.
- Prepare review and audit reports for leadership and support external inspections.
- Recommend process improvements based on review and audit results.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret clearance required. Must be able to maintain the security clearance required for this position
- Bachelors degree and 2+ years in data management, records management, library science, or IT user administration. Additional experience may substitute for degree.
- Working knowledge of classified information handling, marking, and storage
- Experience performing inventories, reviews, or audits of data or records
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Proficiency with Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and Atlassian Jira
- Must reside within a 50-mile radius of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville AL or be willing to relocate prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DoD or MDA data systems
- Familiarity with metadata standards and records retention requirements
- Experience managing both physical and electronic archives
- Prior experience with identity and access management processes

- Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
