Physician and APP Recruiter
Overview
The Physician and APP Recruiter is responsible for full-cycle recruitment of physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) across Sentara Health. This position serves as a strategic recruitment partner to operational and physician leaders, supporting workforce planning and executing innovative sourcing strategies to attract top clinical talent. Primary recruitment responsibilities will focus on high-volume and difficult-to-fill specialties, including Anesthesiology or Primary Care (Family Medicine/Internal Medicine), while providing recruitment support across additional specialties and markets based on organizational priorities and business needs.
The Physician and APP Recruiter manages the recruitment lifecycle from requisition intake through candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer development, negotiations, and onboarding transition. This role develops and maintains strong candidate pipelines, builds relationships with residency and fellowship programs, professional organizations, and passive candidates, and represents Sentara at recruitment events and conferences. The recruiter partners closely with physician leadership, operations, credentialing, compensation, immigration, and onboarding teams to deliver an exceptional candidate experience while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and recruitment best practices. Success in this role requires exceptional relationship-building, strategic sourcing expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple high-priority searches in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Education
- Bachelor's Degree (Required)
- Business Administration, Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, Communications, Marketing, or related field (Preferred)
or
- Bachelor's Degree plus four (4) years of relevant recruitment, healthcare, sales, business development, or talent acquisition experience may be accepted in lieu of directly related experience.
Certification/Licensure
Preferred:
- AIRS, SHRM, LinkedIn Recruiter, AAPPR, or other professional recruiting certification.
Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, physician recruitment, healthcare recruitment, executive search, sales, business development, or related field.
- Experience managing full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer negotiation, and candidate relationship management.
- Experience recruiting for difficult-to-fill, high-volume, or highly specialized positions; physician or advanced practice provider recruitment preferred.
- Demonstrated success building relationships with physicians, hiring leaders, operational stakeholders, and external recruitment partners while providing exceptional customer service.
- Experience utilizing applicant tracking systems (Workday preferred), CRM tools, sourcing platforms, and recruitment marketing strategies to build candidate pipelines and achieve hiring goals.
