The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

About the role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Support Worker to provide effective support to Participants ensuring a safe and structured environment is maintained in accordance with TSA guidelines, within a Participant lead recovery-based service.

This is a Casual position based in Surry Hills, Sydney, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 3.

How will you make an impact

  • Deliver recovery-oriented support aligned with TSA policies and procedures
  • Implement risk management and safety protocols across all activities
  • Facilitate daily programs focused on health, communication, education, and community engagement
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure continuity of care and progress on treatment goals
  • Maintain accurate records, complete incident reports, and uphold compliance standards
  • Support medication self-administration and conduct drug testing
  • Identify service gaps and contribute to continuous improvement

What you will bring

  • Minimum Certificate 4 qualification relevant to the work performed and or equivalent previous experience in relevant industry, and/or on the job training
  • A current and valid First Aid Certificate
  • A current NSW drivers licence
  • Experience working with people with AOD and Co-occurring issues
  • AOD Certificate 4 Core unit AOD Skill set or willingness to undertake if required
