Hourly Rate:

AE-RA-Tuteur / TA-RA-Tutor : $33.83 ou/or $53.31 (Sept. 2026 - Aug. 2027)

The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.

Undergraduate students will be paid at the lower rate; while graduate students will be paid at the higher rate.

These rates do not included vacation pay nor statutory pay.

These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.

Requirements and Nature of Work:

Responsibilities

-Sort and organize insect specimens collected from field samples.

-Identify insect specimens to the appropriate taxonomic level using identification keys and reference materials.

-Record, enter, and maintain accurate specimen and biodiversity data.

-Assist with the organization, labelling, and curation of insect samples and reference collections.

Requirements:

• Enrolled in an undergraduate program in biology, environmental science, ecology, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform careful, repetitive laboratory tasks accurately.
• Interest in insect ecology, entomology, biodiversity, or species identification.
• Ability to work independently while following established laboratory protocols.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Basic experience with spreadsheets and data entry (e.g., Excel or Google Sheets).
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a research team.
• Previous laboratory, field, or insect identification experience is an asset but not required.
