Requirements and Nature of Work:

Research Project on Maritime Policy. The objective of this project is to conduct research and analysis on national and international regulations, practices, and policies related to maritime transport within a dynamic geopolitical context, and to make concrete recommendations at the national level to strengthen maritime transport as a necessary and crucial tool for national and international trade.

To achieve this objective, a research assistantship is being offered to develop, based on in-depth research, recommendations that strengthen maritime transport in Canada. The final recommendations will be presented at a conference, after which they will be further developed by the students to enrich them and give them practical significance and direction. They will then be shared with government agencies and maritime industry organizations in Canada. The student hired will normally be required to attend the conference, which is likely to be held in March 2027.

Minimum requirements: Have experience in maritime affairs or maritime law, as well as in legal policy and legal research. Ideally, take the maritime law course I teach in the winter. Must have excellent grades. A law degree is required. The student must be diligent, perform well, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively. The selected student must be prepared to participate in the conference on this topic in 2027 and to follow up on the recommendations made at the conference.

This contract is meant to be renewed in January and end on April 30th, 2027.
