AE-RA-Tuteur / TA-RA-Tutor : $31.89 ou/or $50.25 (2024-2025)The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.
Undergraduate students will be paid at the lower rate; while graduate students will be paid at the higher rate.
These rates do not included vacation pay nor statutory pay.
These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.

Assist in the preparation and delivery of lessons from a framework provided by program instructors. Attend group meetings and report on class activities. The Teaching, Immersion & English Refinement (TIER) Program is a professional development program for professors from the Universidad del Atlantico, combining English language refinement (B1-B2 levels) with training in English-Medium Instruction (EMI), and including pre-arrival, online, in-person, and post-program implementation lab components. The teaching assistant will support Interactive Language Lab sessions designed to develop participants' spoken fluency, listening comprehension, professional communication skills, and confidence in using English in academic and real-world contexts. Activities include guided discussions, simulations of academic situations, vocabulary development, pronunciation practice, and reflective sharing linked to academic content and cultural excursions.
The program follows an integrated four-skills approach (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) and includes grammar review, vocabulary development, study skills, use of IT resources, learning strategies, and intercultural competence. The approach is student-centered, interactive, and task-based, with emphasis on formative evaluation.
Course dates: November 30 - December 11, 2026
Course Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 2:30pm - 4:00pm
Comments: This course is offered exclusively on the University of Ottawa campus and requires in-person instruction.
