Job Profile Summary
The Senior Library Assistant provides assistance to visitors of the Archives and Special Collections Department and supports the Department's operations. Under immediate supervision, this position helps with maintenance, organization, and promotion of Department materials. While learning and using standard archival methods, the employee in this position is guided by instructions, standards, and practices. Performs related duties as assigned.Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity, diversity, and sustainability in the performance of job duties.
Position may work second shift: Tuesday through Thursday from 1:30 to 10:00 PM. Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
This position allows eligible veterans and their spouses to claim Veterans’ Preference pursuant to Florida Statute 295. Certain service members may be eligible to receive waivers for postsecondary educational requirements, in the employment by the state and its political subdivisions and are encouraged to apply for the positions being filled.

Minimum Education:
Associates degree.
Minimum Experience/Training:
Three or more years of functional experience in related field of work.
An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Essential Functions:
Daily -60%: Identifies, accesses, arranges, describes, scans, stores, and otherwise process collections as assigned, following local and professional standards. Labels and collects written items or other original markings and enters into the collection database.
Daily -20%: Staffs the Archives and Special Collections area of the library providing access to visitors on a regular schedule. Assists visitors in the use of unrestricted materials in accordance with local procedures and policies.
Daily -10%: Files, shelves, and retrieves materials. Maintains and updates stacks.
Daily- 5%: Assists in researching, planning, and executing exhibits or other department outreach efforts.
Other, as Needed -5%: Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Intermediate knowledge of the general principles and practices of library services and programs.
Ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
Knowledge of customer service practices and techniques.
Demonstrated organizational skills.
Ability to adapt and willingness to learn.
Ability to set priorities for self, manage own time, effort and activities as well as contribute as an active team member.
Ability to understand the goals, policies, and objectives of the unit, and standards for own job.
Requires intermediate knowledge of computer systems, i.e. Microsoft Office products as well as specialized computer systems e.g. computer, scanner, printer, use of word processing, e-mail, digitization, and spreadsheet programs.
Ability to interact and effectively communicate with employees and students.
