Own and grow the Real Sports Apparel digital commerce business across the online apparel store and memorabilia auction platform, with accountability for revenue, merchandising, customer experience and operational performance.
About the Role
Real Sports is seeking an experienced digital commerce leader to own the day-to-day operation and growth of our eCommerce business across the Real Sports online store (shop.realsports.ca) and Real Sports memorabilia auction platform (auctions.realsports.ca). Reporting to the Director of Merchandise & Retail Operations, this individual will be accountable for delivering an exceptional fan shopping experience while driving online revenue, conversion, customer retention and operational excellence.
This is a hands-on leadership role that blends commercial ownership, digital merchandising, analytics, platform management and customer experience. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable setting priorities, interpreting performance data and executing alongside internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Commerce Leadership
- Own the Real Sports online apparel storefront and memorabilia auction experience.
- Lead the site merchandising calendar, including product launches, collections, promotions and seasonal campaigns.
- Identify and prioritize initiatives that improve conversion, average order value, repeat purchase and overall digital revenue.
- Build and maintain a clear digital commerce roadmap aligned to business priorities and fan needs.
Commercial Performance
- Own weekly and monthly performance reporting across revenue, conversion, traffic, average order value, units per transaction, customer retention and promotional effectiveness.
- Translate performance trends into clear actions for merchandising, marketing, operations and technology partners.
- Partner with finance and business leaders on forecasts, targets and commercial planning.
- Merchandising & Fan Experience
- Partner with Buying and brand teams to launch products, optimize collections and strengthen product presentation.
- Continuously improve site navigation, search, product detail pages, checkout, promotions, shipping, returns and the auction journey.
- Use customer insights, behavioural data and testing to reduce friction and improve the end-to-end fan experience.
Platforms, Operations & Partners
- Manage relationships with Shopify (shop.realsports.ca), Commerce Dynamics (auctions.reaslsports.ca) and our eCommerce fulfillment partner.
- Prioritize enhancements, coordinate implementation and ensure strong site health and operational readiness for key launches and events.
- Work cross-functionally with inventory, fulfillment, customer service and technology teams to improve reliability and scalability.
Analytics & Optimization
- Develop practical dashboards and reporting that make performance easy to understand and act on.
- Establish a test-and-learn approach to continuously improve the digital business.
- Qualifications
- 5-8+ years of eCommerce or digital commerce experience within retail, DTC, apparel, sporting goods or a related consumer business.
- Strong hands-on experience with Shopify; Shopify Plus experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience owning or materially influencing an eCommerce P&L and commercial targets.
- Strong digital merchandising, conversion optimization and customer experience capabilities.
- Strong vendor, agency and cross-functional stakeholder management skills.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment with high-profile launches, events and seasonal peaks.
Nice to Have
- Experience with memorabilia, auctions or collector marketplaces.
- Experience with licensed merchandise, fan engagement or professional sports.
- Experience with loyalty programs, personalization or lifecycle marketing.
The Candidate
You are a commercially minded eCommerce operator who thinks beyond the website. You understand how merchandising, inventory, technology, fulfillment and customer experience work together to drive a digital retail business. You are energized by high-profile product drops and fan moments, comfortable making decisions from data, and able to move between strategy and hands-on execution.
