Maintenance Manager

Overview

The Maintenance Manager is a member of the Production Department at Mobis South Carolina Electrified Powertrain (MSCe) and is responsible for establishing and leading maintenance operations for a new manufacturing facility.

This role ensures the reliability, efficiency, and safety of plant equipment through effective preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance strategies while supporting production objectives.

 

The position oversees equipment maintenance programs, utility systems, spare parts management, contractor services, and maintenance planning while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. This role drives operational readiness and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment availability, minimize downtime, and support sustainable plant operations. Responsibilities

Maintenance Management

• Oversee operation and maintenance of all plant equipment.
• Support production teams by ensuring equipment availability and reliability.
• Ensure completion of daily check sheets and maintenance documentation.
• Maintain and enforce 3R5S standards in maintenance areas.
• Manage equipment condition, repair plans, and asset tracking.
• Ensure proper recording of process data per ADEM and OEM requirements.
• Lead equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and ramp-up activities for new production lines and facility expansion projects.

Preventive Maintenance (PM)

• Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules using SAP work orders.
• Oversee execution of weekend, shutdown, and holiday maintenance plans.
• Continuously improve PM strategies and effectiveness.
• Drive predictive and reliability-centered maintenance initiatives.

Breakdown Maintenance

• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for equipment failures.
• Ensure timely repair and restoration of equipment.
• Monitor downtime and ensure accurate downtime logging.
• Review and approve trouble reports and corrective action plans.

Communication & Coordination

• Coordinate with cross-functional departments regarding maintenance activities.
• Lead shift handover meetings and share maintenance updates.
• Report maintenance performance and key issues to management.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and safety regulations.
• Enforce use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Support environmental compliance requirements and participate in EHS initiatives related to battery manufacturing operations.
• Identify and report hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Promote a strong safety culture within the maintenance team.

Reporting & Documentation

• Review and report maintenance KPIs, including PM completion and downtime.
• Monitor SAP work order completion and maintenance execution.
• Provide reports on breakdown trends and improvement actions.

Process Standardization

• Lead Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives to improve equipment reliability and OEE.
• Monitor and improve equipment performance through OEE, downtime reduction, and reliability initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to module maintenance work standards.
• Implement continuous improvement practices within maintenance operations.
• All other duties as assigned.

AUTHORITY & SCOPE

Responsible for directing maintenance operations and supervising maintenance personnel. Exercises authority related to maintenance planning, staffing recommendations, performance management, equipment reliability improvements, and departmental budget recommendations.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes, this role will oversee Maintenance Team Members, Senior Engineers, Engineers, and Specialists

Qualifications

(The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.)

 

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
• Proven ability to set goals and achieve results
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Hands-on experience with robotics and PLC systems
• Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance methodologies.
• Experience with CMMS systems such as SAP PM
• Knowledge of industrial automation, PLC, robotics, and controls systems
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Knowledge of IATF 16949:2016, International Standard for Quality Management and VDA 6.3
• Ability to communicate in Korean, both written and verbal, is a plus but not required

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MiniTab, and scheduling/timeline software
• Experience in PLC programming for large-scale production lines or standalone equipment
• Experience in automotive or battery manufacturing environments
• Experience in new facility setup or plant expansion projects
