Location Type: This is a hybrid position based out of Holland, MI.

Travel Requirements: Travel up to 20% and may include domestic and/or international customer, supplier, and JR Automation locations.

 

Role Overview:

The Senior Manager, Total Rewards is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of total rewards and payroll programs that align with company goals and enhance employee engagement, attraction, and retention. This role oversees key areas of compensation, benefits, payroll, wellness initiatives, and recognition programs, while ensuring programs remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with market trends and business needs.

 

How You’ll Make an Impact:

• Develop and execute a total rewards strategy aligned with business and talent goals.
• Provide insights on market trends and opportunities to strengthen total rewards programs.
• Design, administer, and continuously improve compensation, benefits, payroll, wellness, and recognition programs.
• Oversee salary structures, incentive plans, sales compensation, market pricing, and annual compensation reviews.
• Conduct market analysis to support competitive pay, internal equity, and informed decision-making.
• Partner with HR, Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Legal to support accurate payroll and total rewards administration, communication, and compliance.
• Lead benefits administration, including health and wellness, retirement, open enrollment, COBRA, FMLA, ESTA, and 401(k) plans.
• Oversee payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing.
• Use data analytics to evaluate program effectiveness and identify attraction, retention, and engagement trends.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for HR and business leaders on total rewards strategies and outcomes.
• Ensure total rewards programs comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Communicate program value clearly to employees and leaders.
• Manage external compensation and benefits vendors, brokers, and consultants.
• Support equity compensation, long-term incentive plans, and retention-focused rewards initiatives.
• Lead, coach, and develop team members supporting total rewards administration.

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required.

• 10+ years of total rewards, compensation, benefits, or related HR experience, preferably in a complex or global organization.
• Experience leading total rewards strategy, program design, and implementation at a management level.
• Strong knowledge of compensation structures, sales compensation, salary surveys, executive compensation, equity programs, and benefits administration.
• Deep understanding of compensation and benefits practices, market trends, and compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
• Ability to translate business objectives into rewards strategies that support engagement, attraction, and retention.
• Experience managing vendors and partnering cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Accounting, Operations, and Legal.
• Experience leading or developing team members in total rewards, compensation, benefits, or HR operations.
• CCP, CBP, SHRM, HRCI, or similar certification preferred.
• Corporate payroll management experience preferred.
