The Opportunity
Reporting to the American Gulf Region Director, the Area Manager applies expertise in safety, field operations, project management, and technical processes to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of assigned assets. In accordance with TC Energy's standards, policies, processes, procedures, and practices, this role is responsible for the continuous operation, maintenance, and improvement of the assigned area.
The Area Manager establishes and ensures compliance with operational and maintenance policies, practices, and procedures while supporting the planning, administration, and control of capital, operating, and other budgets.

What You'll Do
Champion safety excellence by recognizing and stopping unsafe work, identifying and reporting hazards, and ensuring compliance with safety policies and regulatory requirements.
Make decisions that align with the company's core values, policies, and business objectives.
Supervise employees to ensure work assignments are completed and performance expectations are met.
Lead, develop, mentor, coach, and support employees within the organization.
Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for results while cultivating a high-performing organization.
Foster an environment that promotes innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Create and maintain an inclusive and psychologically safe workplace that encourages open discussion, engagement, feedback, and effective communication.
Conduct regular self-audits of operational processes, including JSA, LOTO, and Work Permit procedures.
Communicate, implement, and advocate corporate messages and programs in support of organizational vision and values.
Demonstrate TC Energy values of Safety in Every Step, Personal Accountability, One Team, and Active Learning.
Provide active field leadership to ensure corporate policies, practices, standards, and procedures are followed while leveraging best practices and consistency across the region.
Represent the company and foster critical partnerships both internally and externally.
Serve as the Region Emergency Operations Center (REOC) Manager backup, including managing the REOC team during emergencies and conducting monthly exercises.
Drive and empower a strong safety culture across operating areas.
Serve as a safety role model by adhering to Life Saving Rules (LSRs) and all company procedures to ensure the safe operation of facilities, protection of personnel, environmental stewardship, customer service, and community safety.
Maintain all required Incident Command System (ICS) training to act as Incident Commander and lead emergency response activities, including on-call responsibilities and emergency response requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred, or diploma in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably in a management or leadership role.
Energy industry experience, particularly in natural gas transmission and storage operations, is preferred.
Ability to travel to work locations to support operational requirements.
Approximately 40% travel required.
Demonstrated ability to influence, engage, and develop teams, with previous leadership experience or strong leadership potential.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels and utilize appropriate communication platforms.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Microsoft Teams.
Proven commitment to safety and the ability to manage work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build effective working relationships.
High attention to detail, accuracy, precision, and logical problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated leadership and management capability.
Ability to influence and motivate employees both within and outside the business unit while building and sustaining critical partnerships.

Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training, including frequent overnight stays away from home.
